Hampshire Laning II

Postby rangaKoo on Sun Nov 12, 2006 9:53 pm

Hi folks,

If there is anyone else in Hampshire who would like to do a day's laning around the North East and Eastern part of the county then feel free to PM me or add your name to this thread.

Same goes for anyone else in the country who would like to come down for a day or two's laning in the area.

Rick will tell you that there are a wealth of lanes local to my place where you can have a good day, also a few bomb holes if you have a winch and want to play in them, or you have some very good tow rope, a shovel and your game..

So if you want to do something out on the lanes in the area.. then drop me a PM or post in this thread.

ALSO, as for local 4wd clubs, down the bottom of the county is the Wessex Hillrunners, google will find their site.. They do monthly play days.. and there are a few others around. :D

So lets get something together then, what do you say? :)

Hi rangaKoo

I pop up your way quite often to visit friends near Tadley (north of Basingstoke).

I used to run a pub there.

Its only an hour and a half up the M4 for me.

I will be watching this thread with interest :D

Just to add a little more..

Anyone who wants to come out and join in will be expected to have some recovery gear, a PMR radio or CB radio, and a good sense of humour :)

I can fill in around 4 to 5 hours with some local lanes without having to be too challenging, they are good for beginners and experienced 4wd'ers alike, and for the majority of the lanes (all the ones that I now like to play on) there is little to no risk of damage to your vehicle, or to the lane.
There are a couple of local lanes however where if you want to try it you run a very high risk of body damage. I'm going out to walk one of those next weekend when I'm off from work, so I'll take a few snapshots and give a running report on it.

Rick & I were thinking about making this a little bit of an event, and if it proves that people are interested perhaps looking at a local camping site so that we can make it a weekend long event (or something like that).

Thoughts, suggestions??

Funny that Mat, I am spending the next 3 months working in Tadley. :D

Should arrange to pop around and say Hi while your there... love meeting new people. :)

PM me if you'd like to arrange something..
I'm always happy to have just a two car day out on any of my days off :D
I live near to Whitehill though THE MAP shows me as near to Alton, I'm actually almost half way between the two.. and very easy to get to. :P

I wouldnt mind popping down for a long weekends camping in the summer.
I used to be based in Hampshire and have had a few good camping holidays in the New Forest.
Wouldnt mind exploring a bit more.

Davey,

I'm just down in the Alton area, just south of Basingstoke... got a wealth of lanes down here, enough to do a day or two of laning. ;)

If you want to come down over a weekend or something then PM me, I'm up for it.

(Actually, I'm not working this weekend either if anyone wants to come down!)

yeah mate, about 30 miles south of there.. :)

If you want to come out and say Hi I'd love to join in.. and I can show you the lanes all around here if you want.

Or if you don't want to meet up I could give you the map ref numbers.. but I'd have to go look them up.

Could you pass on the grid refs/lat lon's and we'll work out just how far it is and no doubt we'll come down and join you at some point.

Cheers.

If you put in Selborne into something like theaa.com then you'll be right about the middle of my little set of lanes mate.
I'll find the grid refs tonight when I get back home from work.

That's the 2nd of 4 off mate.. :)

Would be happy with one of those days.. but I have to be home in the evening of the 9th as I'm babysitting the landladies kids and their friends

Could be a fun little ole' day though, even if we just play in the ones we went through cos they'll be all muddy now, but plenty more to explore so I'll start playing with the maps again. :D

Anyone else want to come play on the 9th? 2 more places available.
