This thread seems to have been a bit hot for a while and now all quiet. 4x4s are different things to different people. Personally, mine is for farm work and getting about in the winter snow and mud - heck, its to make life easier! I love the idea of some real off roading, but wouldn't be able to as if I bust the truck, I can't afford big bills to repair or replace, but wouldn't mind some greenlaning / social meets to get to know other owners who might be able to share ideas or tips, that kind of thing. So whats the score on this, did any meets ever get off the ground? Or am I tap tap tapping a can of worms...

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

I was thinking if a central point could be located (looks like Perthshire maybe??) and someone knows a good place to go offroading in that area, why don't we just keep it casual, meet up and those who want a natter can do so and those who want to drive can do so - and perhaps take us frightened newbies round the circuit Knockhill is the only place I know with a mud course, but if the other events they have are anything to go by, it'll cost an arm and a leg just to get in! Any other thoughts??? Vaux_2, can't make it to Bala, we have a lot of (motor)biking events starting around April time and as I'm one of the main organisers, I kinda have to be at them, oh, and we've got lambing then too

i dont want to put a downer on this but we have been here before on this topic, some just wanted to go and play in the mud and others wanted to have a social meet and in the end nobody could agree on anything so it was back to square one, so do we go for a monthly meet then we could discuss about offroading, social events and the like so where do we start any suggestions welcome. rgds ash.

well, you're all welcome to come along to our monthly meets to help get some interest back into it. You might be able to use that to launch more FOG meets?
