December fording run

Postby fuzion on Thu Nov 02, 2006 12:25 am

Ok you lot, we have a prospective date for the run, and a route

The route is non damaging, all made up roads, some a bit steep and slippy

Date 2nd or 3rd December 2006

The route took me 3.5hrs (from the meet point Pont Abraham services at the end of the M4) on my own. But with photos, stops etc I recon it will be a bit longer in reallity.

Please have a look here

http://s92.photobucket.com/albums/l26/f ... e%20Fords/

to see how good my day was

Please sign up here if you are interested and or have a differnt date in
mind

One post per vehicle if you dont mind

Thanks

Mat

So far, only Luke has expressed interest in this meet, so i am starting a new thread to hopefully get some more interest.

Please add your post here if you are interested.

As usual, one post per vehicle, please :P

This route is great for waterbabys, we will cover at least 7 fords. Possibly 9

I will be doing the trip anyway, with Luke. (if you are still up for it?)

If it makes it easier for others, please suggest another date.

Thanks,

Mat

LOL

I always carry WD40, and have toyed with the idea of keeping a spare set of plugs in the back :D

I dont think we will encounter water TOO deep, unless it raines as much as it did when i reccied the route

Having spoken to Carl this evening, he has a 3 hour drive to the meet point.

So for those who are interested, Sat 9th December, we will meet at Pont Abreham Services at the end of the M4 (where it becomes the A48) at 11.00am

I will be joining M4 at Neath.

Pont Abraham seemed the best choice for a meet point, as we will be heading up the A48 to Ffairfach first.

And Carl might need a potty stop after his 3hr drive

UPDATE

Just to confirm :

Meet will be at Pont Abreham services at the very end of the M4 11.00am 9th December 2006.

We have had some serious rain in the last week, and more forecast.

I will recce the route again at the weekend, but this time i will plan alternative routes around the fords as well, as if water levels (and Daveys exploits) are anything to go by, some (possibly me) will not want to get drowned.

I dont want any misshaps on my first trip

So far confirmed:

Muddycarl
Gottafrontera (Luke)
Me

Any suggestions and anyone else interested, please feel free to post.
