Im not trying to put a downer on things, but i think i am going to be realistic, we have 4000+ members, but a hard core of at a guess not counting Admin, and the Mods of around 20 members who visit this site regulary.

The rest of the membership is made up of people who sign up because they have a problem with their truck, and what advice to get them going again, and once back on the road, we wont hear from them again till it goes wrong again.

Dont get me wrong, thats what we are here for, to help others. and we will continue to do that, no matter what, pass on the wealth of knowledge,

And i think you will find that the people that signed up, no longer use this site, atheir trucks are running fine.

so to get the numbers we need, i think deep down, it is going to need a big advertising campaign, either local papers in every area. free papers the likes of that. and im sorry to say, in this day and age, maybe we need to dangle a carrot to get them there, whether be the chance of winning something, Ie: some sort of raffle, or whatever. or tell them what they get for the full day out, as most will come on the day

It maybe a case of us hard core members running a few things ourselves to raise money for the likes of BBQs, Bouncy castles for the children, so it becomes a day out for there few pounds.

so i would maybe ask someone to get a thread going along side this, or im happy to start it myself, so maybe we can get some sort of list together, to see what members can donate, Ie: their services, me i could bring quite a few things towrds the BBQ at my cost as a donation.

Then once that info is gathered up, and we can put in place children entertainment, and stuf for the oldies for their few pounds, then maybe we have a chance at reaching the numbers we need.

because all the work that the guys put in should count for something. we all need to donate and do a little bit ourselves.

the pm's are working, my inbox is melting. As you would expect, some have pulled out but the confirmed list is growing.

Not a bad idea Sean

The list is 4000+ but remember that is from day one, we wouldnt dream of 4000 members being active ( though it would be a hoot 8) ) .

Many have moved on sold up or just pop in now and then, quite rightly to get fixes as thats what FOG is a technical form, but it has developed a thriving social side that is a fantastic and very welcome bonus, so what we must do is get more people active on the social side.

Though if you look I bet qite a few techi side regulars who pop in now and then will join the attempt, it just about keeping momentum. 8)

I think there's a lot of sceptisism wether it will actually succeed, and some won't/don't want to commit to something that may fail
I don't know how,but we need to convinse people that this can be a success, and has the potential to be a fantastic day/weekend
Some come on folks, lets have some positive thinking and make this work, then we can all say "I was there"

This cant fail, as Ian said there isnt a record at he moment, so lets start some thing thats unbreakable 8) as the older the cars get this type of his will get more difficult

So we have a chance for a unique one off occasion 8)

I'm back!!!Been off-line due to a lightning strike but Ian received a mail from me that should start the promotions big time.I am now about to start contacting advertisers and media for there support.

Anybody who knows a local news group to there area PM there address and will post out our advert/promo details.

Had a few chats with people lately and as we are a non profit making site and we are raising money for so many charities most of this should be free.

Will keep you posted

Regards
Andi
