Well i'm in Leyland, just south of Preston. I've enver been offroad, but myself and my father in law (he's goa disco') would be intersted in some light greenlaning.

Hi all, I live in Merseyside and have been Green Laning a couple of times.
I have found a pay and play site just outside Southport at the Leisure Lakes , its £25 per car per day .
Its a small place but packs a bit in, I drove up to check it out the other week and the guy took me round in his Surf , good fun but I think you would be hard pressed to get a full day out of it unless you got hopelessly stuck  .
Im off to give the place a try in the next couple of weeks if anyone fancies it.

Northwest

Postby kenwales2002 on Fri May 26, 2006 8:54 pm

I may be a bit late posting this reply but as much as Steve pushes the site I don't really look at it much.

I'm from Bolton and have already met some of you. As for the evening runs suggestion Dave, when the rain stops and the river wyre level drops a little we could introduce a couple of the the less experienced members to the other side of there gearbox, with a simple run through the river.

Rooley Moor

Postby mikec on Mon May 29, 2006 6:44 pm

Hi Ken.
Yes Rooley Moor has been down-graided to a bridleway.
Motorcycles racing up & down the hill day & night.
The locals sent hundreds of compaints to the local council.
So the horses have it.
I will have a drive around the tops after i have replaced my shocks.
And get back to you.
there has to be a few good drives around this area.
I haven't been off-roading in my 2.8 as I think the vehicle is
un-trackworthy in its present contition, It would probably shake itsself to
pieces. (in other words i have no confidance in the vehicles capabilities
or my driving off road.
I would like to se and attend an offroad meet in this area.
But have to push me to get this one muddy.

Regards Mike C

Postby dave nohair on Mon May 29, 2006 8:11 pm

Hi Mike C,

it was a long time since I was up and around rooley moor rd,(fitter, younger, and on two wheels......road legal of coarse!) are there any other roads/lanes that you know of that we could try in that area?

If not you are more than welcome to come and try some of ours..........

Sunny Wirral here for me.

Only place ive been to is Brymbo in North Wales, pay and play day, and it was superb.
I went in my Fronty Sport and the looks i got. If i can find the video, cuz i videod the whole day from inside the car, i will post it on the net.
All these so called hardcore guys wouldnt go through a certain section of the course, till i hit it with my fronty, water lapped over the bonnet........ahem, and my mate went into a large pond in his swb pajero, while people stopped and looked thinking he was mad.
He is, cuz he is in a wheelchair and drove that course on hand controls, including at one point taking the altometer OFF the scale down a hill, with me screaming and holding on for dear life with a video camera in my hand.
What a day, superb.

I have had outings with Simply 4x4
they have their own web site and do trips over the north wales area most months, get onto their website to see photos, they charge £30 per day and it does last all day, they have various venues some hard you will need extras for(ie winches etc) some any factory 4x4 can complete

Newbie here!

Just spotted this old thread.

I'm from Kirkham (twixt Blackpool and Preston)

Not done much more than gentle slopes and the odd cart track off road (on 4 wheels anyway, tho' had trail bikes for years) but willing to give it a go if someones got a stout rope to pull me back out! :)
