NI Insurance for Opel Frontys

Hi CJ hope all is well

I have a 2001 2.2 TDI Opel Frontera and just wondering if you know of any alternative insurance companies in NI for the Opel brand.
Most insurance companies don't reconize the Opel Frontera make only the Vauxhall, even though they are exactly the same. Currently I am insured with Quinn £430/yr and was hoping to reduce this

I live in Belfast (*********************) & was wondreing if there are any Frontera events in NI ?

thanks Pete

Hi Pete

Good to have you aboard.

I've moved your post into it's own topic, just to keep things neat.

Insurance: I am with the local firn Abbey, and they are pretty competitive, but not sure if they do Opels. I am considering Tescos, as they are very cheap and may well do Opel.

The other option (apart from ringing round everyone) might be the Farmers Union - they insure anyone and keep it keen - and are very understanding about mods etc, and given the number of imported 4x4s our farmers drive, they are bound to recognise Opel.

We have not yet had any FOG exclusive events as yet - mainly because there is a lack of committed numbers. I am in the 4wdni club which runs monthly events - and no FOG members have as yet attended any of these. Apart from me!

If interest starts to warm up I would love to run a FOG Ireland event. No worries.

Check out this link for dates (subject to change): viewtopic.php?f=68&t=19394

And check our local club site and forums for more info and up to date schedules and possibly some help with your insurance woes: www.4wdni.co.uk

See you soon hopefully - the March RTV is near Larne and I'll be there for sure! you can come watch and maybe take part if you fancy it. No pressure...
Cheers

Thanks for that CJ, I didn't even think about the NFU & I'm married to a farmers daughter!

I had a look at the photos of your LWB 2.4 & they look great. Did you deliberately leave off the spare wheel cover or did it not fit with the bigger tyres - I think it looks better without the wheel cover myself (its the only part of the car that I'm not keen on)

I may go along to one of the 4WDNI events in the nk few months as I had a go at some off-roading last yr (albeit gentle hills)

thanks again pete

You'll find a warm (figuratively peaking in March!) welcome at any of our events. We have a fun day coming in May too so keep an eye on the forums...

Our RTV events are probably the ones you'll want to come and see - and if you fancy it you can ride on with me or one of the club members, or even drive your Fronty. The other events are for specialist vehicles and you'd only be able to spectate at them, but they are great fun too.

Brutus never had a spare cover when I got him, and the spare is standard size so I could fit one - but I can think of several better uses of the cash it'd take to buy one!

I'm a big fan of the 2.2d fronty - it's a very useful engine and the series B are so much more ... finished inside than the old series A biffers. I suspect that if I can't afford my dream LR 110 CSW to replace Brutus, then a 2.2d will be high on my list of alternatives.

See you soon!
Cheers

Hi Woody I've just noticed your reply thank-you & will give them a go

We stay near Cabra Towers, outside Hilltown when visiting the in-laws - I don't see many Fronteras around the Mournes (I'll look out for a 1995 sport)

thanks again Pete
