hi cj, know lough fea area well and would like to join in events up there, would be afraid of damage though as fronty is our only transport - daily driver-school run, but might get up sometime for a look,

Thanks C J.
I can't wait to get the wheels dirty.
The only problem is that i have no idea where to go or what i might need to do.
Perhaps you and some of the other "old hands" could point me on the right direction.

sunday 15th March - Sunday coming - Magheramourne near larne - we have a RTV event you can watch, ride on with one of us or have a pop yourself. Not too muddy, it's good fun.

At least come along and see what it's all about.

Details on the 4WDNi website linked in my signature.
Cheers

You know it makes sense in the long term - off road (M/T) tyres are tougher and so you will not wreck them as easy as road tyres. She'll come around.

Mine didn't - I only run M/T's permanently, but I do low miles, so it's a fair compromise for me.

Actual spare alloy/steel rims are cheap - try Mackings in Saintfield and tell Sheamus I sent you, and tyres he may have used, or else Supreme tyres in Belfast (near horseshoe bend) are the place to go. Tell Ian there that I sent you. Both Ian and sheamus are 4WDNI club members, and I only go to them for stuff like this.

Be great to see you at the weekend. I'll be in the muddy car, always...

Advice on choice of tyres will be endless, so start a new thread if you want to open that can of worms....

Sounds like good advice as i only do about 4,000 miles a year,so it's allways another options.

I just happened to be down at mackings last friday and got a good tow-bar and two rather dodgy side steps (which came up a treat after i stripped them down and spent two days re-welding and spraying)."Yer man" seems decent enough and didn't get his arm in to much.
Looks like i'll be dealing with him again soon. :drive:

Spoke to "her who must be obayed" today and it looks like it will be a family day out on Sunday.

4WDNI are about to finish their RTV season (we break for the summer) - last date is Sunday 21st june in Churchtown (near Cookstown).

We are also planning a weekend for practice, in August sometime but dates are not firm yet - probably in Churchtown again.

To keep up to date with our dates please visit our site as linked in my signature.

FOG Ireland meeting has yet to happen - no-one (OK, one person) has ever managed to come to a 4WDNI meet, so I see little point organising a FOG meet!

If someone disagrees, then I'm totally up for it, so long as we have a reasonable level of confidence that we'll get the numbers.
Cheers
