Digger Weekend at the Woods...your support is needed!!!

Postby gregster on Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:58 pm

Wotcha Foggers.....

We have now had use of our woods for 6 months and through the hard work of everyone involved we are really getting there...
We have re-established tracks and climbs up the hills and many other obstacles to test driver and fronty...
Our first winter here was going to be a learning experience as we had no idea of how wet and muddy the site would get, and boy does it get muddy!!!
This is great, but means that many of the climbs are too difficult in nov, dec, jan, feb....

At the site there are large flatter areas in the top of the woods, which, other than putting tracks through, are pretty much untouched other than the existing bomb holes.
The plan is to develop these areas, digging and enhancing the existing obstacles which can be used all year around, then giving loads more to do in the winter, and huge amounts of fun in the summer...
There are many other areas around the site where also further terrain will be created, as well as improving the entrance so more friendly and levelling the access tracks...
There is a fair amount amount of maintenance that is needed to improve the farm tracks, access routes and drainage which we will be doing on behalf of the landowner at the same time.

We have been planning for a while now how to develop the site further for everyones enjoyment, and improve access for the landowner, in the most cost effective way, and hence the plan is to hire in a 3tonne minidigger for a weekend to accomplish this...
The idea with doing the hire for a weekend, is that we can get a bit of extra use out of the machine on fri evening and monday morning, and work the machine for Sat and sunday...sufficient time to enhance the challenges and finish the site...I will take fri and monday, tuesday off as holiday from work to do this (tuesday is for sleeping!)...

As this is a new FOG only venture and not open to the general public, the numbers attending the meets so far have covered the cost of renting the site and some of the addition materials we have had to buy in to get this all started, but we sadly havent made any money on top to pay for this next stage...

The cost of hiring the digger, delivery/collection and diesel for the weekend is going to be £330...the deposit I will cover (£2000!!!)

We would like to commence these works this spring, before the ground gets hard and digging get more difficult, and so it all done in time for the summer meets and weekenders for so many more of you to enjoy...and we are hoping that with your support that this is going to be possible...

So guys, we need your help by way of donations to achieve this figure...so we can together make our woods the ultimate meeting place and play ground for us all to enjoy for the future...

So please "DIG" deep and give what you can to enable us to make our great place to go, the greatest!!

Please post below or PM me if you are able to make a donation to this project...(I will then PM you payment details)

Thankyou for all your support and we look forwards to seeing many more of you in the future...

All the best...

Greg and Sally...

We havent got a great lot of money in the FOG kitty and we have to use a good chunk on Bala but from all the team and from all the MEMBERS that have donated we feel its right we donate something as its a fantastic thing you are doing for the South East, in fact any member that wishes to visit on and organised day, so £40 from FOG and if more money becomes available we will gladly help out. 8)
