South Hampshire greenlaning day, 5th Feb 2012.

Greetings from your FOG Southern rep,
I'll start by wishing you all a Happy New Year, hope everyone had a pleasant festive season and isn't suffering too badly
Now then, to business. It's a new year, my Bus is mobile again, and I'd like to get things moving down this way, in tandem to events organised by gregster over at our SE picnic site.
So I'd like to propose a day out laning in South and mid Hampshire in February. It's a repeat of the route followed in the Mini-meet of 2009 with one known change currently (due to HCC reclassifying one byeway into a bridleway ) and I would classify it as a beginner level route. You will not need modified cars or extreme tyres for this, so unless we have a monsoon the day of the meet, a standard car will be just fine on a half-decent set of road tyres. There should be no possibility of damage if driven sensibly, beyond some scratching from trees & hedges on a couple of lanes. There are ways round if you become concerned.
Now, I have a sneaking suspicion there may be an event on the 12th February so the dates I have in mind are either the 5th or 19th of February. If people could indicate their availability we'll settle on a firm date then.
The route starts from just outside Romsey, covering a few lanes before a midway break at Sutton Scotney, and then the second part of the day sees us heading East and finishing on the outskirts of Basingstoke. There's flexibility built in, in that if we make good progress there are a couple of extra fords and lanes to be done south of Basingstoke if people wish.
Then, find somewhere to stop for refreshments and a natter about the days events, before heading home.
Like last time, the meet point will be The Rapids, Southampton Rd, Romsey, HANTS, SO51 8AF 0930am for 1000am departure.
So chosen because it has ample parking, and is easy to find and get to.
If we make good time, I would estimate being at the basingstoke end of things by around 3pm when decisions can be made to carry on, etc.
Costs, none besides fuel for your truck, and whatever food & drink you fancy. Oh, and bring a camera if you wish.
I'd suggest bringing warm clothes and good footwear though, just in case, and to check the fluids in your truck. If you've got a CB so much the better for joining in with the banter throughout the day. I have one, my partner in crime also, and I have a spare handheld unit if someone wants to borrow it.
I'm going to limit this to 5 cars maximum so as not to look like an invading force going up the lanes but if interest is high I will run it again, and perhaps see if I can tempt a few bodies onto some slightly more challenging lanes round Alton or up to our SE site.
All that remains then is to pop your name on the list below with preferred date and we can get this moving.
Jim.
The list:
1 ) Wilberforce (Leading), either day.
2 ) ????
