BIG UPDATE!!!!!!

Ok, here goes!!

I've got a P&P site.

It will be £16 per vehicle for the day! :D (sounds good for an entire day)

AND

They WILL allow us to CAMP in-situ from the night before (thus allowing BBQ & BEER drinking without risk).

I will check the price of renting a portaloo for 24 hours.. or see if my other club (Wessex Hillrunners) will rent out theirs to us, and possibly even join us for the day!

The course is a nice course which has both easy & hard bits.. GREAT for beginning 4wders and experts alike! :D

SOOOOOOO...

Now what I want is another GROUP of people who ONLY want to come on the SUNDAY so that we can have a CRACKING day up there.
(If your coming on the Sunday you MIGHT consider arriving on the Saturday night and camping?)

Who's up for it?

I'm going to meet with the land owner tomorrow at 1300 hours. I'll have more information after that time.
At this point the only other thing to bear in mind is:

Cost for FOOD on the Saturday night.
Cost for rental of portaloo (if I can't get it for free)
Cost for camping if the owner requires more (probably a fiver or something at the most)

NOW I need a couple of volunteers to assist with some stuff for the weekend.

Si

At the moment I need volunteers for the following tasks:

Green Laning Marshalls;
Preferrably with a winch to assist in recovery if needed or several tow ropes would suffice, and to lead the groups on the lanes...
Laning Marshalls will require a NAVIGATOR in the vehicle with them, OR memory map and able to set waypoints etc. If using a navigator in the car they must be able to read OS maps (I'll have them all prepared for you guys).
Responsible for keeping to GLASS Codes of Conduct and keeping their group together. Must be an experienced laner. ;)
Must have a CB and hopefully a PMR in case it's needed. (CB is to keep in contact with me) :)
A bit of hard work basically.

P&P day Marshalls;
Preferrably with a winch to assist in recovery if needed. Or tow ropes at the very least.
To keep the rules of the site adhered to and make sure that no one has any probs. (but can still drive and have fun)
Must have a CB or PMR (either will do on the site as it's all within range).

Someone to assist with the purchase of meat, buns, sausages, sause etc for the BBQ... and hopefully someone to bring along a large BBQ (portable) if possible as I don't think my little one will feed everyone, but I'm happy to try! (I'll happily cook if I'm plied with BEER or Jack Daniels!)

I'm sure I'll think of more later..

I WILL be purchasing relevant OS maps for all the Laning Marshalls and pre-marking our route out on them. They'll be returned at the end of the day unless you wanted to purchase them. I CAN provide them for everyone if wanted/needed, but the money would be needed in advance as I'm poor ;)

Rightio, time to see who volunteers now! :D

Hoppie,

Done & Done.

Ok folks, latest update is that we have now got a P&P site booked.

Ideally I'd like a few more folks to come along on the Sunday as well.

I've also sorted out the camping, it will be on the P&P site. I'm going to try and get hold of a portaloo from the Wessex HillRunners. Infact I might even invite them to come along if nothing else is booked for them on that weekend. (Great bunch of folks who might be surprised at what a Frontera can do (most of em have zuki's and landies, so we'll need some people ready to winch them out, hehehe).

So come on down, put your name down and get your gear ready for the weekend!! :D

Right... the P&P site pics are here...

Looking over the hill climb/drop area towards the muddy little lake at the bottom (which is where my avatar picture was taken some months back)
Image

Image

Looking towards the old railway line. The ground drops away to the right making a drive down from the line quite a challenge to those not used to it. :)
Image

On top of the hilll one of the easy tracks.
Image

Looking back towards the railway lines area and the climb up from it (a bit muddy today). And my muddy, dirty Fronty. (all from the local lanes)
Image

Looking down towards one of the exits off the site (which will be likely be closed on the weekend). And my muddy, dirty Fronty.
Image

Hopefully this will encourage a few more of you to come along and play on the Sunday. And remember you CAN camp the night before. But I need definate numbers by FEBRUARY 15th so that I can confirm it with the site owner and also make sure that there will be enough food etc available and also so that there will be space for you to park and pitch your tent... :D

Currently the plan is as follows:

Saturday morning meet up around 0800 (location to be confirmed once the route is arranged), lane all morning and around 1300 stop for lunch in your individual groups... After lunch (approx 1330) to continue laning until around 1630/1700 hours at which time we will all meet at a specified rendesvous point.
We will all then proceed in convoy to the P&P site and park the wagons in a circle and pitch camp (or put the 4wds around and pitch camp by headlights! (depending on light left anyway)) :)

Set up a camp fire. Set up the BBQ. Set up tents and sleeping arrangements etc and then eat, drink and be merry. :D

Next morning wake around 0800 (eeek), cook up some breakfast or whatever (you'll need to supply your own food for the Sunday breakfast/lunch) and around 0900/1000 whenever people feel like making a move we start using the P&P site for it's intended usage.. and add several layers of mud on to our already dirty 4wd's.

So sound good??

Itinerary:

Saturday,
0800 - Meet up in one large group
0830 - begin setting out at staggered intervals to start laning
1300 - Stop for lunch somewhere alongside the lanes (packed lunch)
1700 - Group meet up again, convoy to P&P site.
1730 - Strike camp / dinner / beer, etc

Sunday,
0900'ish - breakfast
1000'ish - begin playing
utilising the whole of both days until
1600'ish - completion of the weekend with official ending. Prize giving as well. :)

RIGHTIO..

I'm still figuring out the pricing for the entire weekend.
But I will get back to you VERY soon. (But I have to work this weekend so I'll be doing it slow time).

Tomorrow I'm off to Portsmouth to find out about a portaloo and it's availability to me. And I might just invite a few of the Wessex Hillrunners to join us on Sunday for the P&P day... but I'll think about that.

Comments, thoughts, suggestions??

Excellent mate.. the more the merrier.

All in all a pretty action packed weekend for less than the cost of a night at the pub. And a great opportunity to meet up and have a great deal of fun together with other Fronty owners. ;)

THOUGHTS, SUGGESTIONS????????

Tony, sounds great, a big marquee style tent you mean??
Whatever if it's big then it'd be great...
Are you planning on the whole weekend so that I can add you to the list?

Anyone got an old 44 gallon drum they would like to donate for a fireplace? Saves the campfire being a mess!

Rick, Fantastic mate.. By the way, are you up for the 20th of this month for a day's laning? Drop me a txt, email or PM..
I'll count you in as a marshall for the day. Will be great. :) Any luck on getting a CB as yet?
I think it's the time to take TOIL or some A/L :D Hope you can get it off.. :D

Just so everyone knows.

Laning will be cut off at 3 groups of 4 (12 vehicles)
With Tony and Rick joining in that only leaves a couple more spaces.

P&P day is still open for more spaces. :) (as is camping on Sat night)

No worries mate.. that's plenty big enough.. (the tent)

If everyone brings a camp chair of some sort for themselves then we'll be just fine!!

Is there anyone in Tony's area who can help with transporting some stuff for him? Or do you think you can squeeze it into the LWB?

Dont be so formal old chap!
All i can say to be honest with you, If my motor has got tax and an mot on it by then i will be up for just about anything! I just need to get things moving on the engine conversion which im hoping will start moving along this month!
If you have room for me when its all done i will gladly come and play for the whole weekend but must warn you i do play rough! so could be up for anything! (as long as its not sexual)

Cheers
