Newbie from Dorset

Postby Mooies on Sat Jul 23, 2016 7:51 am

Hi guys,

I have just bought a series B 1999 2.2 diesel frontera.

I tried to tow a empty horse trailer yesterday and the car is gutless and going up hills I will be getting 25-30 mph

Am I doing something wrong? Am I meant to be in 4x4 for towing?

I'm all new to this 4x4 stuff but I would have thought it would have towed it a lot better than it did to be honest.
If I had horses in there I prob would have been going backwards lol

Thanks again and Hi :)

Wotcha :D

You shouldn't be struggling that much. If I were you I would start a new thread in the 2.2 Diesel section:

viewforum.php?f=18

You will get better responses.

This is like the 5th post about this issue please can you keep it to one. If it's gutless without a trailer it won't be better with one.

DO NOT use 4x4 on tarmac there's lots of threads on here about its use.

Nice one. If you run out of diesel, you could end up doing damage to the fuel injection pump which is located under the bonnet.
