Hello from Ayrshire

Postby bennymac on Mon Nov 02, 2015 9:32 pm

Hello everyone
I'm Benny from Irvine in Ayrshire and I am pleased to announce that I just bought my first Frontera...
I went for a 52 plate 2.2 dti which has 140k, picked it up on Saturday and on the drive home from Lanark realised I had some tlc to do ha ha.
Sunday I stripped the inlet off and I am so glad I did because one of the butterflies had come off the rod and was blocking that inlet port, even happier that it didn't drop in to the valve and make love to the piston ....

I brought the parts to work as we have parts cleaners and beed blasters so I cleaned up all the parts ready for reassembly at the weekend, at least that if I can manage to reattach the butterfly that has fallen off the rod.

I also noticed quite a bit of play in the turbo main shaft so it looks like I will be buying a cartridge for mine but I need to get the part number off my unit first ( I didn't write this down)

Other than that I am fitting a standard stereo ( I had one at home) and replacing a few dash bulbs before I will tackle any of the bigger jobs.

I probably should mention I have restored a few cavalier turbo's in the past and owned Vauxhalls for many many years, I plan to use the Frontera as a winter hack to travel between home in Ayrshire and Stockton on tees where I work every week.

I hope to be fairly active on the forum as I know how valuable these places are for information etc.

Hello from Oxfordshire and welcome to the forum and the life of a Frontera Owner. The spanners won't get a chance to go rusty!
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here

Owning a 2.8 is a hobby in it's self...
