Re: New guy from PortugalLove the flex on the back. How do you prevent the spring from popping out? Traffic lights in London are just rough guidelines
Re: New guy from PortugalHello and welcome.
What setup to you have on the rear of that? PSN & Xbox Live username: hobsey1980
Re: New guy from Portugal
In order to prevent the spring from falling i use a cross bar on the lower plate over the last coil to keep the spring inplace and one of these on top to get some raise as well. Note the cone shape in order to guide the spring back to place if it comes off rest... By null at 2010-09-18 By null at 2010-10-21
Re: New guy from Portugal
I just have +6cm spring spacers and +10cm shocks and deviated braking lines divider???(the square shape bolted to axle next to right side panhard bolt). I also needed to get a longer hose for the diff breather otherwise it would snap on extreme axle flexing...
Re: New guy from PortugalWotcha and welcome....nice flex mate....
Its much better flex than mine... Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: New guy from Portugal
N'ah some idiot had been there with a digger!.... Thats our tyre changing hole in our woods...beats jacking the car up, just plop a wheel in and the opposite lifts off the ground...much easier... Dont think it would work with yours though! Re: New guy from Portugal
Remove the bar... You won't be disappointed. But first make sure the shocks are in good conditon. Sometimes the bar "masks" the condition of the shocks. With original shocks you wont note any difference. But leave the front one... Thats a totally different story due to IFS
Re: New guy from PortugalI have new plus 4" shocks with a 4" lift so no problems there
At the front removing that will give terrible ride quality and you will be in danger of cracking the CV housing on extreme flex. Ste

Re: New guy from PortugalIt wouldnt be difficult to put reinforcing rings on the cv's Ste...we in the SE CV smashing dept just decided not to as, for us with the welded fronts, its better to bust a cv as easy to get to sooner than something else...
We were busting them with too much torque under suspension compression...ringing the cvs would help with droop where infairness there will never be as much traction as under compression... Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: New guy from PortugalThis is what I mean with no front anti roll bar and nothing to limit flex.

Re: New guy from Portugal
I have the same. I have a 6cm lift at the coils and 4cm extra for the whole body over the chassis. In order to prevent the CV issues We can only lift a maximum of about 4cm using the torsion bars. Mora than that we have to lower the diff as you know, either lower (by welding) the diff holding brackets or just get 4 spacers and longer steel bolts to lower those brackets on the bushings... Standard procedure...

By null at 2010-10-21
tidy flex wildweasel! how have you fixed the spacer/cone to the chassis?
I just got a piece of steel bar (5mm thickness and about 4/5cm wide by 6cm long) drilled a 13mm hole and welded a M12 nut on top of the hole. That assembly i just welded it on the hole on top where the coil settles. Then i got a M12 rod and did a couple bolts that go from bottom of spacer and screw on that first bar i told you about. If you notice the cone of the spacer has a wider hole to keep the bolt head hidden and theres space for the ratchet to get in. I think you get my thought... This way the coil may come off on extreme flexing and then gets back to place guided by the cone on the spacer. Simple... plain simple...
Re: New guy from Portugal
I know about the welded diff drops and heard of the spacers used to drop the diff, but I have never seen the spacers actually used, do you have pictures or a write up of this procedure? Ste

Re: New guy from Portugal
Its pretty easy actually... The 2 brackets that hold the axle/diff are mounted with 4 steel grade bolts... 2 for each, those brackets have rubber bushings for some flex. They're bolted to the chassis underneath the engine mounts. You just need to get 4 aluminum or steel spacers and longer steel grade bolts to fix it back on... Be aware that there's a limit on lowering the diff. As you know if you use the "bracket changing" system you have the cross bar underneath and if you use the spacers you must be aware that the descended brackets may touch the steering cross link. Im sorry for the technical terms, they may be inaccurate... I think theres some info on this here in the forum...
