A cheap North Wales Green Laning weekend

Postby Drift on Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:25 am

As some of you are aware, I am a member of a mountaineering club .
I have access to a converted Chapel in Capel Curig, North Wales.

Mulimap
This is the "hut" the pic is of the communal sleeping area upstairs, pub is 10 mins away
http://www.gwydyrmc.co.uk/hut/

Not much space around the hut for camping but 1/2 mile up the road is a great campsite.
The hut is about £90 for friday and Saturday night for 8 people and I think £3 per person a night after that, sleeps about 15 to 20 no problem.
Down stairs drying room, living room kitchen and dinning room and shower.
Why camp ?

We will go and do some Green Lanes in Snowdonia in groups if enough people go.
Routes to be confirmed, but open to surgestions.

More that go the cheaper.
If anyone wants a breakfast, that could be included in the price and Ill get the food, someone else can cook and wash .
There is a nice Cafe that does cooked breakfasts down the lane, The Bryn Glo.

Any left over money (if the electricity metre hasnt eat it) could go to the site up keep.

Remember thats £12 all in for two nights if about 8 people go, it will cost a bit more the less that go or a lot less the more that go.

If anyone wants more luxury this is the pub/hotel
http://www.visitcapel.fsnet.co.uk/tynycoed.htm

The Tyn y Coed is 10 minutes walk away and does great food and kids are allowd in all night, its a hotel  .
The pub has open fires pool table darts and great food.

I was thinking anytime the hut is available between the begining of March to the end of April.

If you would like to go please post your prefered dates and I will see what dates the Hut is available.

Ive already got a mate in a Surf (Leo) going.

If the proposed date does not clash then I'd be up for this (as I'm sure I've indicated Ste)

If there were eight of us, that could be two laning groups. One group does one laning route one day whilst the other does a different route, then they swap routes on the following day.

Just my thought.

Sounds Good.
I will look at the possibility of the two possibly three groups crossing the same point at lunch time, if that plan is used.

Hopefully in the next few weeks I will have routes worked out.

Needless to say they will all be possible in standard vehicals.
