Green Laning Weekend 28/3/08

Postby Drift on Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:28 am

I know its last minute but same as last year around this time, the Admin and Mods have decided to have a bit of a weekend get together with a bit of green laning thrown in.

Its not as posh as last year as his year we are camping.

The date is Friday 28 March to Sunday 30

Location is Capel Curig on the A5 just past Bwts y Coed.

Routes to be arranged according to the types of vehicle that are going on the trip, but dont be worried if your car is standard, there will still be some stunning driving to be had.

The list at the moment is,

1. Drift

2. Red Oktober

3. Frontera Administrator

4. Erkos Bro

5. Trugga

6 Alchamist ( if his car is ready)

A couple more are possibilities.

We will get 12 definites to make 3 groups, so we will need a possible group leader.

So sign up ONLY if you can make it.

This is not an extreme weekend, peeps are bringing their families and the pub up the road allows kids and is Drift friendly :D ( good job the owner is my mate  )
Its as much a social gathering with some splendid lanes.

This is the campsite at £4 per person per night, it basic but clean.

And for anyone wanting a Bed and Breakfast there is the Bryn Glo just 5 minutes walk from the campsite.

Righteo then, already put my name down for Cowm on the 30th but this is closer to home, will think about it over the next day or so. Its only 48 miles vs 120 to Cowm.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Two more will make a perfect score lol

3 groups, so assuming Trugga will lead one ( wwink) group I will lead a group, we need a voulenteer to lead the third group, any takers, Memory Map would be a bonus or I can arrange printed maps.

We will get a lot of routes together beforehand and have a sit around and the friday evening and work out what we want to do, taking cars and experiance as well as weather conditions into account.

Have memory map and a laptop. Dont have maps (pc based or the old fashioned kind) for that area though. I dont mind picking up an OS map for the area beforehand either as I would like em for my collection. Unless soemone has memory maps they can 'lend' me.

I have MM v5. but no maps for that area. Are overlays the actual map files? Only just got MM so havent figured it all out yet. I am looking into hooking up my road angel GPS to it though but i need a funky serial cable and road angel are a bit on the expensive side at the moment for me. Then there is no guarantee that it will work with memory map either and neither roadangel or mm seem to know for sure if it will.
