Wayfarer (N.Wales) in the dark

I had the opportunity (ie, not planned) to drive the 5 mile Wayfarer this weekend just gone in the dark.

It took half-an-hour to make the summit, just in time to watch the sunset.

Whilst we were there we were joined by the Chairman of CRAG (Countryside and Recreational Access Group) and his family, where we shared half-an-hour chatting about laning, GLASS, CRAG, Difflock, 4x4 motorsport etc.

By the time we had supped up the coffee (did'nt do bacon butties this time), it was getting dark, so it was just about time to leave.

Here's a 5½ minute video of the half-hour decent.

Video Clip

I really must sort out the spot light beam alignment (all six of 'em)

The Sony Handicam is velcro'd to a control box, that in turn is "clamped" to the dashboard:

If the going gets rough, I either hold the top of the camera with one hand, or if very tough, I use both hands on the steering wheel and hold the camera down with - will power.

Another option is the Lipstick Cam, as used in this play day video

Lawrence's dash was designed by NASA, honest .

He has a great set up that attaches to the roofrack and gets some fabulous footage outside the car.

I think he should give BBC Midlands a call they gotta want a camera man.
