Re: Herts & Essex green laning day ( January / February 201Chan 8 it is then. See ya in the M/Way service place carpark.
This Violets Lane, how deep is it normally and whats the river bed/lane surface? Many fek orf large rocks or is it mud? This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: Herts & Essex green laning day ( January / February 201As rob said, let's put it like this when I did it last it was not flowing because it was to dry but I still got water half way up the bonnet and wet carpets so if it's flowing and you don't have a snorkel then these no chance. And yes it's a gravel/rocky base. YouTube it, it's a famous ford because it's the longest ford in the UK? or is it Europe?

Re: Herts & Essex green laning day ( January / February 201if its that deep and that long I think I will opt for the drive around too
don't like the sound of wet carpets etc, no, no , if it was a short crossing etc then no probs at all.

Re: Herts & Essex green laning day ( January / February 201There's a short deep ish ford at great Thurlow. I've done it a few times without a snorkel in my Dti but it did cover the wheels (bottom of the headlights, or over the bonnet if you push hard lol) I haven't had a look at the route yet so don't know if we're going anywhere near there

Re: Herts & Essex green laning day ( January / February 201Short?????? Violets lane is just over half a mile of water varying in depth from hubs in the summer to how i did it in Angelina one winter.......came up to my tax disc and I very nearly sh@t myself. I'll have a look at Thurlow on the map but there is always the rib crossings just dow from there

Re: Herts & Essex green laning day ( January / February 201that was with a 2 inch body lift, 2 inch suspension lift and 31's and a snorkel.
Dont worry, I cant see us even attempting it. I have re-done the whole route to take in the shallow river Rib fords and Dunmow ford. A revised overlay has been sent to those that asked for it.
