Lol nothing to do with maintenance. The manual hub sheered and shattered the outer casing. And the winch was the only recovery point I have on the front and Ian pulling me out pulled it down and snapped those tube things off the front of the chassis. Oh just another day in the office lol

them tube things on the chassis aint really structural, and I would be mounting a winch bumper onto them. Might be a time for a rethink regarding the winch mounts and making something stronger, as that could have been nasty if you were dangling off a cliff by your winch cable.

Good pics though, looks like a good day was had by almost all... 8) 8) 8)

Yeah...I realize that now lol. Although it was the previous, previous owner that put it on there...and in fairness we managed to stall the winch out without any damage...it was only when Ian used his truck as a massive 2ton slide hammer to tug me out (and only just...2inches forward for half to 3/4s of a trucks length worth of run up). It was proppa stuck lol...

On the upside.. I was planning on getting a proper winch bumper for it.

Great day out, shame I had to bale and miss the best fun of the day
Big thanks to Dan for organizing the day and meet a few more of the Fog members :D

The cutting out problem is something to do with the hand primer thats on top of the fuel filter, I had mentioned to Mick that I thought the priming
pump felt stiff to push down, well when I pulled the fuel pipe of that comes out of it and to the engine, there was a gush of air and the priming pump raised
about 1/2 inch  reconnected pipe drove truck about 7 miles before it dies again, check pump and the primer button is flat to the top of the pump again
I have got an inline secondary glass filter fitted so I by passed main filter clocked about 30miles and it hasn't missed a beat :D wish I had thought of
it before bailing :oh yer:

Ian The Arabic writing on my bumper is an inch tall,

Dan when youv'e sort out your other issues or when you like really PM me your number and if bring a rim over to chippenham i'll sort that tyre out for you

Well the only pic I got was this....by holding the camera out of the window pointing backwards shooting blind, all good and well being a photographer but dambed hard when your driving at the same time lol.
Image

But I took some shots of the brutal carnage when I got home....poor things just had its face half ripped off!! Made slightly worse because the top of the nudge bar was bolted to the slam pannel thats slightly bent too, not too much but enough that the offside head light points out to the side abit now. But the truck is now parked up, battery disconnected and SORN'd for the next ### months/years  .
it was almost clean before I got stuck
Image

Owwieeeeee!!!
Image
Image
Ping!
Image

I didnt get any pics of the hub....but its not pretty lol. The casing has 3 or 4 splits in it, no spines left at all and in the process the spring got chewed up too....just for fun! How did I muller a manual hub you ask?? well 4low in reverse, left foot braking (trying to send some power the wheels thats arnt in the air) is the answer, Ian told me to do it  , and for anyone thats thinking of trying it.....it didnt help at all lol

As above I was planning on getting a proper winch bumper for it....so nows a pretty good excuse id say! Also Ive worked out the problem....things always go massively wrong when I try and show fudge the tunnel...the 1st time fudge got stuck with road tyres so we didnt make it to the tunnel and this time I slipped into the rutts due to the grass being soo blooming long and the above happening....so next time if fudge comes I wont plan on going to the tunnel...and I bet nothing brakes or goes wrong.

As for you Xplorer...I think your trooper knew what lay ahead....because your truck is wider than any of our trucks.....so Im not sure you'd of fitted between that pillar and were I destroyed my truck...so you may of ended up in the same situation as me....then again becuase I dont own it, it may of just driven straight thru it without so much as a spin of the wheels

True that lol. But its now SORNd so that'll f&$k them up lol. and when Im doing 300 miles a week just around cambridge the truck just doesnt make sense! Hence why I got the Chavalier back on the road, and its awsome sleeper. 14" steel cav mk2 rims, wonkey rear bumper, not a straight pannel on it, not even the roof lol but it does the most awsome coal rolls (even better than the tweeked 2.8 does lol) and when the intercooler is cold (its mounted to the side of the rad - FAIL) its pretty dam nippy for a 1.7td with 207k miles ex-taxi K reg lol

Small note from Donna to Kelly, Donna really enjoyed 3 yoghurts when she got home but I wouldn't go back to Tesco's to get any more !

And now. FOR THE STAR OF THE DAY

Now witness the indignity of Dan's 2.8 A Series
