Im loving the snow at the mo, it makes it a bit more interesting. And snow makes the ground softer for sleeping on.

Surely there must be some more interest in this by now. What more could people want, a cheap dirty weekend away in the countryside

If I can get the time off work and depending how much the campsite is etc I think I could make it.

But were is the campsite and how much is it? And to save me reading back through the thread, we arriving Friday night and laning Saturday and Sunday? And coming home Sunday night? google says its about a 4 to 5 hour drive each way  so just need the above info so I can work out the costs and then I'll be able to let you know if I can make it. Well assuming that's there's still a extra space?

Been looking at campsites, and they are a little bit more expensive if you are staying on your own. If you are taking someone along with you to share a tent, it works out less at most of the campsites.

I am looking around the south lakes, like dannyboy says in the windermere area.

Ok so I have been trying to find a reasonably priced camping, as the one I was hoping for cant do it ( they have the whole place booked out by a rugby club) which is a shame because it was in the grounds of an old hall. I have however come across a farm campsite.

Pros

Its £5 per person per night + £2.50 a car. ( other campsite have been £20 plus.
Its not a "formal" campsite so I am guessing they wonty mind us being there :-)
Its a 5 min walk to the village where there is a co-op and a pub, or a 20 min walk o the next place with more pubs.
They have toilet facilities
They have shower facilities.
Did I say it was cheap.

Cons

They dont accept advanced bookings, but i cant see it being a problem in April.
The showers are "solar powered" lmao. hmm im willing to brave them.

The campsite is http://baysbrownfarmcampsite.co.uk

What do people think, will it be ok for everyone

I've stayed at that very site before. Its a good site with great views... But its in the bottom of a valley and has a stream running past it (you have to go over a hump back bridge to get into the site) so it does get abit boggy if its been wet as it was when I stayed there. But my golf managed to climb out so I'm sure you lot will be fine, might just end up floating out of your tents in the morning instead lol
