Laning abroad: Netherlands

Hi All,

have been to the netherlands and done a VERY interesting trip there. Restrictions are existing to public trafic, but there is a man who has permission to do trips with small grouos of 4x4 according some culturally important points you cannot do by foot in a day.

A few impressions:

Meeting before the trip for lunch (Robert and Marco have made this day possible for some Germans, tx for this!)

Histroical Sight:
Hidden village during the German occupation. Jews and partisans had lived there in such housings... Interesting!

Every Team got a Roadbook. The Mrs did it well, both we had no experience with this! If we do this more often, I have to think about a tripmaster...
It is quite dangerous zeroing the daily meter during driving... The others made it comfortable: Lacking a co-pilot, they simply followed us!

If you like to take part at this trip you are welcome to send me a PM and I will prvide you with the data needed for contact.
Kind regards,
Ian

Well, the trip has been considered for SUVs

There is as well an Off-Road track. We'll do it next time. But sorry, no Antara.

Here you have another piccy

YES, a

DACIA DUSTER!

Surprisingly good performance, even in the sand...

Do you have this in the UK already? Dacie is the romanian sister of Renault and they sale low budget cars with some effort in Germany. The Duster as a small SUV - starting Price e.g. 13.890,- euros... http://www.dacia.co.uk/ Dacia on FifthGear

But it is no alternative for us - keep the Frontera myth alive!!!

Ian

Some good pics there Ian, the Netherlands is without doubt a nice country, we spent a happy 2 years in Brunssum and managed quite a few of the local lanes and stuff (mainly forest tracks) in the companys motors.

Given the chance I would move back tommorrow.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here

Indeed, it's Robert's truck. The guy on the left; he owns also a buggy and a VW T3 - on this base he has some friends in Wales and gives them regularly a visit. You can give him a visit, too: http://www.bad-dragon.nl/.

He has organized the trip with http://www.mercator-experience.com/.

You have seen his car here before on here:
