Myself and andy went for a little play in and around Great Alne, taking in the lanes mentioned in my earlier post on night fording. Heres some pics.

On the island in middle of the alne ford river.

Ive been through it b4 by myself steve. I was waiting on the island in the middle for him. Then took him to the local green lanes I discoverd.

Ive been into 4x4ing lot longer than you realise, i got star letter in OR&4WD magazine back in 1998! (My claim to fame!)

Couldn't believe you'd made it onto the island! But then saw that all the ruts and interesting bits had been filled in on the approach :(

Was fun tho, I should have taken piccies at the top of the hill from the forest across the fields - was quite a view!

My piccies will be up in a mo ;)

 No worries mate. You were more than welcome to of come. I did put up on my last post a suggestion of going to do it today. However I only had andys mobile and not your good selfs otherwise i would of given you a bell. It was pretty last minute decsion to of gone. On a personal note it would of been my brothers 21st birthday today who died beginning of last year. So I needed to get out and take my mind off things. Cheers andy mate for coming at short notice.

Cheers andy, look forward to seeing them. Wasent to difficult to get onto the island, I take it they have made it easier then. Still was upset by the looks I was given by the 'locals' that women with the dog when we were coming out onto the road from the lane. I tell you ive had more abuse mouthed at me in the month ive had the frontera than my whole 6 years driving.

Thanks andy it was quite a sudden thing he died in his sleep, heart attack without any warning and he was a lot fitter than i am. Just the shock of not being able to say goodbye was the thing that hurt the most.

No sweat about being a bit late, was a good afternoon just what i needed.
If you were wondering where i went after coming out of the last lane, my mate lives just down that road. Got him to make us beans on toast and a cup of tea! Haha

Due to things happening here I couldn't have made it anyway Mate!

I know what you mean about the Abuse!! I've had quite a bit in the 4yrs I've been in Fronties and I've been driving for 10yrs now!!
Although on the way back from the Quarry on Friday I didn't get abuse .. just thumbs ups .. might've helped that they couldn't see the original colour

My condolences as well.

ooh nice :)

funnily enough down that lane was where we were meant to camp originally for the Aston Cantlow meet earlier this year. I was told by the old couple who own the site at the bottom of the lane to f**k off in no uncertain terms!

Thanks steve.

Realy andy, some people hey. You cant seem to win with a 4x4, you use it for what its designed to do and your deemed reckelss or iresponsible, but if you drive it on the road, your seen as a road hog or a thug. I like to think i dont drive in similar mannor to boy racers or doddery old grandmas. I havent had an accident in 5 years yet i get seen as something of ridicule when im in the fronty.

Wont see me selling it though! Far to much like fun 8)
