its what is known as a (skimmer) thats to say its a young bream

Image

Small bream of less than about 1/2lb are popularly known as skimmers, and the average size in most waters is 4oz to 1/2lb, and a large one weighing 3lb or more. They feed mainly in the warmer months but can be caught all year round. Most anglers, especially beginners, love catching bream.

Habitat: All stillwaters and slow-flowing rivers
cheers

Ar'nt "skimmers" suicidal fish anyway ?

I seem to recall catching loads of the buggers as a kid, just dangling casters in the Severn.

Ive killed a few rabbits, the odd pheasent and a pigeon in my driving career but never a fish!!

Do i get some sorta prize for this?

Thanks smify for identifying it for me, it was a slow flowing river, so i guess i just drove straight through its habitat!
