Re: 25/10/08 Laning Day Piccy`s & Banterwell I'm sorry to say i had an absolutely, fanbloodytastic, chumberwaping of a day, got so excited with the day, i only took one or two pictures, and about 5 minutes of video, my arms are killing me for the many u-turns, hehe, for a personal one to me i was very impressed my truck, only had a few rear spins,
now to most important bit, thanks to Trugga, Drift, & Alchamist, for organising a fantastic day, and another thanks to drift & sir dorris, for there encouragement, and lies ????? and lee for being a good gate opener and a little entertaining when she fell on her ass, and thanks to James (the other newbie on the lane with me) for getting stuck at the end of the lane, and the final thanks go to F.O.G. flying solo, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Re: 25/10/08 Laning Day Piccy`s & BanterWas that a good day or what
12 Fronteras at the Corwen car park plus 1 other and another owner from another group came over to say hello A big thank you to both Drift and Alchamist for stepping up to the leadership challenge thus allowing additional members to participate. The banter at the pub at the end of the day demonstrated what a great day we had. Every one appeared "up for it", including the crossing of the River Alwen, which passed without any drama. Whilst I know there was some apprehension (I know, because I did it for the first time once), following a little guidance and taking it easy, proved what a standard Frontera is capable of. During the day we experienced patches of slippy mud (mostly from forestry workings), rocky climbs, side slopes and slippy slate... all vehicles (as far as I am aware) came through unscathed and their drivers having greater confidence in their and their vehicles ability. It's a pity the weather wasn't a little warmer, less wet and less windy, but it still made for a cracking day out. On with the photos then: The Corwen Carwash (River Alwen) garybozi 2old0_0 sjbulldog The start of the Wayfarer: Rocky climb: Approaching the summit: It was a bit busy (and windy) at the summit as CRAG had been relaying part of the track and had driven up to the summit to do some work there - you don't normally get this many vehicles up there normally: On the way down, we came across a little incident. The group we had met at the meeting point earlier had tried to pass a vehicle coming in the opposite direction. In so doing, the Daihatsu had cross axle'd, so the Frontera thought he'd try and drive past and pull it forward, only he was to cross axle as well and later blow the front diff. A quick tug bag from myself would free the Frontera and a Discovery would then pull the Daihatsu forward: After a comfort break in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceriog, we made our way up to the side slopes and slippy slate of White Stones: After a few shorter lanes... ...we made it to the pub to await the other groups: Lawrence
Re: 25/10/08 Laning Day Piccy`s & BanterHad a great day, even if i did get stuck Like i was told someone had to. Big thanks to Trugga, Drift, & Alchamist for putting this event on.
Also to Sir Doris, Drift an andysd1 for the laughs and getting me down some of the hairier bit's, Cheers for the lift as well. Got some real diesel in there now, an going to give Morrisons a call in the morning to find out whats in theirs. Gutted as most of the mud has been washed off.
