this is really driving me mad now.
im looking for anywhere in my area i can go off-roading.either a unused quarry, greenlane,or anything really.
been searching all over and come up with these sites:
murton
weardale
ridsdale
Yearle Farm, Wooler, Northumberland
ive been trying to find aerial photos (using live maps and google earth)but i cant find any.i really want to go to some of the above places one day when im bored but i need to know exactly where they are.id really appreciate it if anyone could post up a overhead view of the above places so i can find them...i found a post by trugga with a link to all the off road sites with all the addresses on them but even using them i still cant find them.

thanks

If you want an overhead photo, use http://www.multimap.co.uk and select map/photo mix.

Murton?? you mean the quarry? it is a NE4x4 venue only, and the owner is non to happy about anyone else going, i used to trialk there and i can tell you its a car killer. ridsdale is a great place, ver VERY peaty and boggy, dont even attempt it unless you have muds on, it is very easy to sink axle deep, plus it is so soft even ground anchors dont work, weardale is fun but very dangerous, there are quads and bikes everywhere, how nobody has been killed there is a wonder, i have been a few times but i will never go again.
I will try and point them out on the map.

i agree with what ady has said about ridsdale and weardale, but also think should add don't go anywhere off road alone, until you get a fronty stuck you don't realise how heavy and how stuck they get, and you can sink axle deep into what looked like solid ground so quickly

Ridsdale

Between Ridsdale going east and the right angle corner look just above the road, there is a large field/moor area, thats the pay and play site.

on the 7th of jan i'm going to herrington, all the places are full for vehicles but your welcome to jump in with me and come along and see what its like dave, it'll give you a good idea of what you can do in a fronty , and an idea of anything you'll need for yours

Weardale off road website and map

Overhear shot
it very hard to see the tracks, but the large farm on the right is the main place, the all the land to the left/west including the quarry is theirs.
