Ive past it, proberly lost on them roundabouts in Skem

It has concrete pipes sticking out of the ground with smaller pipe sticking out of them.
I think you can see one in the pic, they use them to let the methane escape from land fill

Round "O" Quarry
Grid Reference: 485 087
Operations: Shale extraction and inert landfill
Area: 20 hectares
Operator: Mainsprint Ltd

Location:The quarry is located approximately 5 km north of Skelmersdale town centre and 2 km from Newburgh and is accessed from Cobbs Brow Lane. The site is bordered by self-seeded woodland and sits within an area of agricultural grazing land.

Activities:Round "O" Quarry operates by virtue of a number of planning permissions granted for the winning and working of minerals between the 1960's and 1980's. Restoration of the quarry void is permitted through the importation of inert waste. The site has an extensive planning history including an application in the late 1990's to restore the site through the importation of domestic waste, which was dismissed at appeal. Currently, the extant planning permissions are subject to a review under the Environment Act 1995 in order to determine new operating conditions. Extraction is presently due to cease in 2006, with final restoration by 2010.

Contact Details:Planning controls at the site, are administered by Lancashire County Council Environment Directorate. Planning Officer Mark Potts 01772 534180

As far as I can tell they just lead into the farms and are dead ends.
