Well, as always a good event well hosted by Chrissy and Bobby, thanks folks. Big thanks to Ian and Ste for getting the rear shocks off the truck and helping to get the new ones in, hours to do 2 shocks... nightmare... Was good to see old faces again too.

Oh and a well done to the chef (Horses), who made a better good at job killing the burgers than we did on the truck service... Question is, did we put the oil in or not???

Having set off from Bobbies and making a short stop in the caravan place down the road for some van related bits we finally managed to find the CC site we were headed for, after dragging the van down some pretty narrow lanes and then finding the post code on the booking form was ... Well, shall we just say it wasnt the ******* site! Thank gawd we didnt meet anything coming the other way, I was NOT going to reverse back up those lanes!
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

Ahh, bad luck there mate, are we now talking about another spanner party to swap the turbo??? Tis simple enough (thread here) once you manage to find another turbo.

You would be looking at anything from £50 for a pre-owned unit up to £550 +/- for a new unit, add to that gaskets etce.

Well I stripped it all down this evening. Including taking the rad and intercooler off. Split the snail to find only a slight trace of oil in there which I believe is quite normal and the impeller has no play at all and silent bearings. Then I went to remove the turbo from the oil and water feeds and returns to find that the barstuard one to get to on the oil return was already loose. When I got it off it seems someone has already replaced the turbo but put the wrong sized bolts in the flange and tried to pack them out with washers. It has vibrated loose so all the oil under pressure has come out at the gasket.

As I am on nights tonight i will take the opportunity while the engine bay is quite empty to give it a damn good cleaning tomorrow and put it all back together. After I've done an oil filter change. I've also flushed out the rad and cleaned out the intercooler with petrol.

Hopefully it will be a cheap fix and run a bit better too.

All done. Oil change as well. No leaks. I re did the hoses with self fusing tape from bnq and they hold a treat.
