Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewNext to the FOG Annual Meet, this north Midlands "party" is the definate No.2 to circle in your diary. Bobby and Chrissy open up their garden (and surrounding urban space) with a mixture of tools and food for all tastes. Their hospitalitly is legendary. Early arriver's get prime location parking (I just snuck in on the end) Over spill parking a plenty Many Fronteras were being fettled with this fine sunny day, although they mostly seemed to be 2.8's Snapper had changed the 2.8's timing belt and was then to set about replacing the spider in the rear prop. Alchamist was fitting a custom made exhaust to his 2.8, abley assisted by Drift and Bobbins Job. Our Admin with dirty hands Bobbins Job's 2.8 had the fuel tank guard replaced There were olso other little jobs being done; SWB/LWB rear light conversion, a new exhaust on a 2.0 Sport, the fixing of an alarm switch and a bit of stickering. Arty shot Bobby's Den There were many people around to engage in conversation with, but this little Manny seem to attract a lot of attention: As the light started to fade, I said my "cherio's" and left the hard core to do what they do best: On my drive home though, one thought kept crossing my mind - did Drift have a good nights sleep ? Drift's Hotel Horsebox Cheers Bob - thanks for the chat. Cheers Chrissy - I'll be seing you soon. Lawrence Last edited by Trugga on Sun Jul 22, 2012 9:02 pm, edited 2 times in total.

I would like to say a BIG BIG thank you to everyone that made the effort to come, it was a fantastic weekend, with lovely company and putting more new faces to names from FOG. 18 trucks this year, a new record. chrissy one life, live it.
Re: Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewHound dog? Snapper if you please.....
Bobby, Chrissy. As always a great weekend and BBq. It really is for us to be handing out the gert big thank you to your good selves for putting on the event and organising it so well. It was great and very good to meet folks again. Thank You Mustnt forget Ollie either...That pooch has taste (and tbh is a bit of a softie really ) This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck. Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'Truck' Comments on 'Truck' the truck may be left here Owning a 2.8 is a hobby in it's self...
Re: Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewThis was my first BBQ and it was brilliant.
It was lovely to see some faces I haven't seen for ages and some I see more often, lol, and even though i wasn't in Stan, I still had a job done on my car, thanks to Jay Glad the hug worked Rob, and Caitlan is chip off the old block, she is very funny. Massive thanks to Bobby and Chrissy for making me feel so welcome, well, Chrissy anyway, at least SHE didnt throw tea at me only joking Bobster xx Cant wait for next time '01 SWB 2.2L PETROL called Stanley Bean
If it's got Tyres or Testicles, it's gonna be trouble!!!
Re: Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewAgain a cracker, and I did have a drink or two but not to the extent I couldn't get stuck in
It was busy old day with exhaust being whipped off and fitted and rebuilt from bits that had been whipped of other cars A wheel bearing and oil filter issue sorted Fuel tanks dropped and refitted, lights wired up left right and centre and a cam belt renewed along with the prop uj. Stickers pretty much stuck on everything I had to leave early today, sorry about that but I hope the other outstanding jobs got sorted and Ricks shocks. I love the way nothing is too much trouble for any one, thankfully I didnt need anything on my truck but the help every one not just willingly offered but insisted in offering each other is one reason I will never leave this place, all of you are fantastic ambassadors for FOG and purely great individuals Bobby and Chrissy and family.........................Well what can I say that I have not said before, we and I love you all and thank you so much for this, its a therapy for me to see your family welcome all of us to your home and 18 cars at the last count is a lot of hard work to cater for and you fed and watered us all fantastically. Again all my thanks and respect to you all xxxx A few pictures and yes I was dead chuffed wit my den in the horse box, it was ace though apparently the snoring reverberated a bit like beat box in a car and kept a few folk awake Cosy And we are buying one of those little fire burners for our garden this week as that was just the right size and kicked out some heat Thank you to all who attended and our fantastic hosts Last edited by Drift on Sun Jul 22, 2012 8:29 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewWell, I'm home now too, having stopped for a rocket-fuel coffee and to collect a thoroughly knackered Staffie from my sister ($deity alone knows what she does with her, but if it saves me walking, then who am I to complain! )
Thanks go to Chrissy and Bobby for organising this annual do. This is the first time I've done the trek to Stoke for the BBQ, but was made very welcome, had a few drinkies and a thoroughly entertaining time. Nice to catch up with a few bods I've not seen for a while, see some new faces, and finally get to meet Chrissy after taking turns with her to wind up Lou and others on FaceBook The bolognese was absolutely superb too, thank you. Just a shame I've missed these on previous occasions. Didn't do much to my truck, except borrow Bobby's drill to make a large hole in my spare wheel carrier for a CB antenna, and watch Frank dismantle the remains of my towbar swan neck. Cracking time though, well worth the trip. See you next time! Jim...

Re: Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewFinally made it home after a rather scary blow out on the A14 (litterally 100 yards from where Angelina blew up last year) And after finding that my new truck is sans bottle jack, had to call the AA to change the spare over
Again a massive thankyou from me and Maria to Bobster and Chrissy for a brilliant weekend (and ofcause, the cozy caravan ) Like Drifty says it's brilliant to see folk muckin in to fix or modify others' trucks (the welding aint pretty, but it aint going anywhere) and as per usual, the food (expertly cooked by the cosmic fool) was great, the banter was tip top and even the weather came out to play for us. 18 trucks!!!!!! Is there a world record for the number of Fronteras parked in the same street? lookin forward to next year SIZE DOES MATTER!! Re: Annual Spanner Party/BBQ 2012 21st-22nd July - ReviewBlimey mate, not good to hear about the blow out.
Take it you and Maria made it home unharmed, just a bit later'n planned? Nothing embarassing about calling out the AA, the bottle jack probably wouldn't have been up to the job anyways. Jim...
