I know the feeling and understand completely buddy..
I've now got a 2.4i which I've had for little over a month now but had a
2.2 petrol before that which got scrapped owing to being to costly to repair after the A/C system went t*ts-up and the Timing Belt snapped!!!

the 2.3TD is a good motor, SB has a 2.5TD and loves it.

the Fronty has a character to it unlike newer "4x4"s that are Boxes on Wheels

Exactly, i dont find the newer 4x4s of interest, now ive gone fronty i dont (and hope) i wont go back. I know my motor is underpowerd for its size but if its the only LWB youve drove you dont notice  . Ive been wanting to get off road for a while, even when i had my swb but never did and beat myself for it. I always bottled it thinking id get myself in crap or knacker my beast completly. Thats why i joined the forums so i could have the oppertunity to go with peeps who know there stuff.

Most of the Members here are off-roading newcomers .. quite a few are Fording Newcomers .. none of us here know everything.
But a very good bit of advice .. NEVER Go on Your own ..
It's always better to go with someone else in another Vehicle just in case!!

If you do knacker/damage the beast there's enough Tech assistance in here to get it back on the road!!

I know I won't switch back to another Vehicle, I'm stuck on the Fronty ..

Is this ok with you guys ? If not ill tell him to buy a real 4x4 and try again.

Just ask driftwood how stuck the "Reliable" 2.8 Fronty gets trying to rescue a stuck vitara!! then remind Him it was a Petrol SWB that got 'em both out (The rest of us were too busy Laughing)

James, the Vit is quite a respectable Off-roader and as this is a Multi-National , Multi-Vehicle Forum He's more than Welcome to come along ..
We're not as "Clicky" as some other forums ..
(I could name a couple but I won't)

I got Pete off that hill easy :D once my tow bar got unstuck from the earth
I seriously didnt have a feel for the lwb or 2.8 when I went into the bomb hole number 2, not the death hole I helped tow Andy out of

That was the first dirt that car had seen as I only had it for 6 days, two weeks before was when the 20 swb was written off.
Now Im part of this car  no stopping me
