S.A.N.D.S Charity Event.

Postby dave1966 on Wed Dec 22, 2010 7:37 am

Hi all.

Would someone be interested in organising a meet and greet event in or near the summer for the charity S.A.N.D.S?
S.A.N.D.S stands for Still And Neonatal Death Society, this charity is very close to my heart as my daughter died of a
neonatal death in 2007. Im looking for someone who will be willing to organise the event,as I dont have a clue of what to do. I will be willing to contact S.A.N.D.S to inform them,if we can arrange this. I dont think it is a well known charity but
Im sure that there maybe a few members on here who may have heard or even went through the same as myself. I hope
someone could do this on my behalf and it will be very much appreciated. I hope my Fronty will be on the road for the
event but if not Im sure someone on here will give me a lift,if we can get this organised.

Admin feel free to pass this on to all areas and to the right section if I havent put it in the right section.

Many thanks in advance.
Dave.

Hi Dave, I've never arranged any charity event but would be interested in taking part. In school holiday time would better enable myself to take part (hope this doesn't sound selfish). How about somewhere central, maybe a forest drive at Dukes Pass area of Callander - could approach Forestry Commission for the OK - I understand there is a vehicle access allowed route there. A simple forest drive but would maybe encourage a picnic/meet?
Maybe collect " donations" from those attending?

Regards David. :)

Hi Big Dav.

That sounds like a great idea. I was thinking during the school holidays as it would be a great family day out and I could get in touch with S.A.N.D.S to see if they could get a representive to attend too, once things are sorted.

Hi guys, I wouldn't mind getting involved, although through the summer I'm really busy with motorbike events and last year managed to miss the only Scottish get-together! I wouldn't want to take on too much responsibility as I don't have much time, but willing to help with ideas and info if I can. It's really hard to raise money for the lesser known charities, but maybe you could think about having a raffle with donations from off road suppliers or green lane / 4x4 venues or a free MOT etc, you could make it a sponsored forest drive somehow, but don't think that would raise very much as it wouldn't be very many miles, or you could arrange a picnic funding part of it out of your own pocket and asking for donations, and hope that you cover your costs and make some money for SANDS.

If I think of any other bright ideas I'll post them here! Good luck 8)

Bigdazz,I thought I would change the subject from "event" to what it is now so that members can see that it maybe for charity. The only problem I have bigdazz is that Ive never organised anything before and if Im honest,I dont know how to either. It would be good if someone could organise the whole event if possible and I will obviously do my part too. Alot of you on here will know sites that may do a deal for charity events better than me. :D Bigdazz,it would be a great event if we could all pull it off. :D

agree maybe we should get a wee mini meet sorted like meet for coffee i would have no problem helping organize as i do events with BMW club and Keith is very good at it too think if we all pull together we could sort something no problem

so maybe a wee coffee meet some Sunday after the new year

Hi Dave, kids up here have usually started the hols by 1st July, think English school hols start a couple of weeks later, so anytime July or later part of July to encourage southern members to join in? David.

OK, I'll be having to keep an eye on some tin rot I have discovered at trailing edge of sills - MOT due in Jul. Did I read someone is going to contact Forestry or do you wish me to? David.

David,if you dont mind contacting the forestry that would be a huge help, thanks. My mot ran out in august and I dont think it needs much for the mot,I think it just needs:- the front brake flexi hoses replaced,cv boot, handbrake adjustment, one tyre on the front (but I may get away with it) but Im going to put the spare 16" steel wheels on that Ive got in my caravan for its mot and then its the insurance then the road tax.

Dave, shall do, haven't a clue how many would attend - will see how many Forestry Commission would tolerate and post accordingly. I have never been to the venue but have satellite viewed it and seen literature and it looks ideal - great photoscenic place I understand. I will e-mail FC next week once hols have settled. David.

David,no problem. It looks like it is good scenery round there. I think maybe this thread could go into the general events info section I think and it may help for everyone to see it.

Hi,admin.

Could you move my thread to the general events info section, please?
