We normally get a bit of bumph at signing on.

Take your CB, as the radio crews have a bit of chit chat on channel 39 (dom't pic up the wrong mic though  )

I'll be leaving in an hour or so for the 3¾ hour drive up the M6 (hopefully I'll avoid the Manchester rush hour)

For those wishing to pop along to have a look see, the venue entrance is map reference NY 233 957 (no other entrances are available to the organisers)

Please park with consideration and leave the forest track clear as it is the only emergency vehicle access into and out of the forest.

I'll be parked up 200 yards down the track, probably supping coffee listening to the radio.

Jools, it was a pleasure to meet you, Rob and Dave. I do hope your satnav got you home eventually

That turned out to be a tough event for the competitors, with lots of off's and mechanicals keeping the radio net busy (not forgetting to mention "Marches 6 alpha" (Jerry) patrolling the "muddy mile" on foot for two days.

The next round, I think, will be in Devon !!! (the TBA on the back of safety booklet) - not too sure if I'll be at that one just yet, but intend to get to round 5 in Radnor, mid Wales (I'll be taking the Sport to see the scrutineer).

I might add some more photos up a little later.

Oh, car 50 went of the track by the concrete bridge and landed in the river - I think the navigator did it on purpose, as his mate in Ireland (a member on here) wants him to make a winch bumper like mine - so he popped over and had a jolly good look at the bumpers construction.

Ditto Lawrence - a pleasure to meet you at last, I hope we didn't bore you *too* much about amateur radio! Yes, we got home ok. Just after that detour thanks to Tom-tom the GPS gave up, so I had to re-boot the phone. Having looked at a map, it seemed to have decided we were about 2 miles from our actual location!

The event was great fun. The weather was reasonable, the midges ok during the day, the chuck wagon was good and the beer was plentiful.

Oh yes - there were some offroad racers.

Some pics of the recovery of car 50 -

See you at another at some time, no doubt. The next one for the Scottish contingent is the Perthshire Hill Rally. I'll put a separate post up about this one.
