Hi Paul, I often drive the made up roads on Mynydd Epynt, the MOD range, but have not driven any of the rights of way marked on the OS map. I think it is similar to Salisbury plain, you would need to contact the MOD as to when you can drive the lanes. There are signs all over telling you not to stop or get out of your vehicle. I took no notice and stopped to take photos once. Bad decision, I was chased off the mountain by a bunch of armed squaddies in a landrover The views are outstanding up there
yes i believe there are two routes that all civilians can drive (unamed roads)or yellow roads

The one i got chased off joins the A40 at a place called Llywel between Trecastle amd Halfway (the white road heading north) : The mountain its self is riddled with rights of way, looking at the OS. There is even a reconstruction of a Bosnian village up there that they use for training, up there.
I have a copy of the MOD map, that is used as a location reference for motor sport events - the is an "Irish Village" and a "German Village" - go figure Lawrence
