Liking this a lot. :)

Postby V8Rik on Fri Oct 20, 2017 6:43 pm

After all the trials and tribulations of the first few weeks of ownership of my 2.2 DTI Sport, it turns out these things are a laugh a minute and put a huge grin on your face.

I spent the day wandering around the Lincolnshire Wolds in it today, yes the rides a bit choppy at low speeds (short wheelbase) but there's not much wrong with them once they're working properly. They're never going to be a road rocket with 115bhp but keep shifting and riding the torque, let the body roll and the grin starts.....drifting on wet roundabouts is funny as you like, all in slow motion.

Blasted down various unmade roads at it has to be said, daft speeds. Bit of steering deflection but hold on tight and it ploughs along quite happily through forest quagmire and rough dirt tracks. Nothing fell off or packed in ..... apart from the dash but after reading the "how too fixes" on the site i'll whip it out and do the solder thing tomorrow, side lights sorted it today. :D

Anyroad....looks like I'm a convert, no more whingeing or whinging from me. No where near as gutsy as a big RR or X5 but that really doesn't matter, it's about the ability of the thing, and it's a laugh a minute for tiny money.

Glad your liking it they are the most under rated 4x4. Re the "daft speeds" we encourage our members to read the GLASS code of conduct https://www.glass-uk.org/index.php/code-of-conduct the rights of way/green lanes are under threat with lots being shut and it's vehicle users are under constant scrutiny.

All apologies to anyone who was offended by my antics today playing on private land, farmers who own far too much land (including what's left of a bomber runway) who i've known for donkeys years. ;)..... my family do lots of motorcycle green laning and realise the consequences of one or two idiots wrecking things for everyone else.

It still has to be said, laugh a minute.....even if it does need a good pressure clean now. I'd love to know just what can be achieved by these with proper mud plugging tyres and a bit of a body lift ???

Dunno if it's just me, but nearly all the pictures I try and look at aren't available to view.....apparently i need to upgrade my browser at a substantial cost, up to 1k according to "Photobucket".

You don't need to upgrade your browser it the people who uploaded the images to photobucket that need to. Basically photobucket screwed everyone by stopping hotlinking of their images and trying to charge an obscene amount to enable the feature.

Put frontera in the woods into youtube. The woods were a playground for Fog members ,run by a Fog member.

I've now done some fifteen hundred miles since sorting out all of it's initial problems and it's turned out to be a more than capable 4x4, during that time it's never missed a beat and starts first time every time. :D

We spent the weekend wandering gently around/in/on the North Yorkshire moors deliberately going off road (legally) at every opportunity we could find, nothing overly difficult, just tracks that veh's are allowed to use, cracking time had by both of us....didn't even nearly get stuck such is it's abilities even with road biased tyres on.

Bumped into a chap with a long wheels base V6 that had been lifted by a couple of inches so he could fit some humongous mud plugging tyres to it. with big smile on his face he happily stated his NEVER gets stuck up there, not ever....that I can believe.
