Hi. Thanks for putting this post up . I quite like the look of Dusters. Especially interesting in the film was the way he had the spare wheel mounted on a drop down frame which I haven't seen before. This arrangement could be used to carry stuff at the back like a bicycle.

Personally I like the concept of the Duster 4x4 as a no frills SUV, especially when you get brand named components that you would pay shed loads more under the originators badged motors. Be interesting to know what they did to achieve the auto locking rear diff. The doubt is how well will a 'sensor' controlled drive shaft rear drive system coupled with front wheel drive stand up to the punishment of hard core off-roading compared to a rear solid old school axle system. This would go for any modern 4x4 SUV. That said, for the money involved, still reckon the 4x4 Duster is a worthwhile consideration if thinking of buying a modern SUV.

We're considering one for Gemma she likes the stepway but has poor towing weight.

My personal opinion is that you have to test yourself. My fronty has a bit of rust under the body and in some other corners but the engine is fine.In car service when they have to do the angle for the direction the bolts are rusted and hard to move.I have a hard time trading the Fronty for Duster.I mean fronty is really full option body on frame, truck like feeling, low range and up to 2 l engine and the engine is simple and no frills. No fancy turbo and stuff.I have on clock only 121 000 km.

I don't remember if it's told in the movie but the spare wheel outside make space for gpl tank without taking up space from the boot itself.

Proper value for money Brian. To think you can put a brand new basic model Sandero on the road for just under £6k. Appreciate the Stepway is the next size up and the price reflects.
The guy I know involved with a Dacia dealership says they sell hell of a lot around the south London areas because if they get minor dinks (not desireable) the heartache is easier to take than had £12k plus been spent. He tells me the Logan is very good value for money.

Met a guy with a Duster equipped with AT tyres at a laning event in the Netherlands.
Nice car, very confident, comparable cheap. But lacking 'some air under the axle'.

Many cabs in Rome Italy, are Dusters actually.
Kind regards,
Ian

Can you explain what you mean by expression: "lacking some air under the axle" ?

It sits too low to the ground. Needs more air .. needs more ground clearance ;)
