Swapping to crystal clear headlight units.

Postby dave1966 on Wed Mar 30, 2016 10:18 pm

Hi all.

I'm thinking of replacing both headlight units on our dti with the crystal clear headlight units like the Olympus ones. My question is this, will they fit without any modifications and is everything the same on the back of the crystal clear ones the same as the back of the ones that are fitted just now? I will be replacing the front grille too, will I need to remove the A bar to remove our front grille?

Many thanks in advance.
Dave.

This is what I'm thinking of doing. Our Frontera is the blue one in the pic and the silver Frontera is a random pic.

You will need headlights indicators, grill, plugs off loom and a grinder (iirc)...I think the front panel is a it different, so would probably need altering to get the other lights in (but that might be vice versa), but the headlight adjuster wiring is different as are the plugs for the indicators etc...
Grill can come off without the A bar, but it is easier with it removed.

Thanks Greg. I thought there would not have been to much of a problem with fitting them but I think it might be worth doing, as the headlights that is on ours just now seem to be crap at night.

Have you considered removing the current ones, giving them a swirl round with soapy water and maybe a go on the inside of the glass with a bottle brush (not the reflector, in case that gets damaged) then refitting with new ultra-bright bulbs?

I didn't know that the glass is removable. My headlights have 100w bulbs fitted. We were doing some shopping today and the missus found a crack on the driver's side headlight. :) I'm planning on fitting an led headlight conversion kit and replacing every bulb with led bulbs.

Don't bother with led head lights h4 bulbs will only work on main or dip not both unless you take the bulb apart and fit a 2nd earth and h7 unless you have projector head lights are light driving on your side lights, do you self a favour and buy a decent HID kit
