meeeo wrote:Hi,
I'm new to the forum, just got my first frontera (98 sport 2.0) that I picked up cheap as a part ex deal.
I live Padstow, not too far from Newtron Abbotts & would be interested in some local laning as an easy starting point, just to see how it performs.

Ello mate
Welcome to the forums :D

As mat has said ...I'm in Newton Abbot Theres a few lanes up in the hills by Ashburton and a couple on Dartmoor....

also theres a 4x4 track/play area at Trago mills herein Newton but i wouldn't take a standard frontera on it

i am in the proscess of learning about a proper play site near Dunchidiok (near Exeter)

Still not taken fronty off road so would be good to do somthing. I think there are a couple of other members in and around exmoor so it shouldnt take much to get some bodies together.

Old chinese proverb; have wheels, can travel. I think there maybe a couple of sites somwhere between Tiverton and Exeter, not sure if they are just farmers fields or proper places, I will see what I can find out.

I find it hard to beleive that with all the farms and land owners in the south west it is nearly impossible to find somwhere to off road, legally any way. I have asked around and tried to find out on the web about any p&p sites but with no luck. I do wonder if there is a good business opputunity here. It doesn't take that much money to buy or even rent a small bit of land with some woodland on it and a couple of days with a jcb could have some interesting obstacles made. I know that there would be insurance etc but do other sites get round this by the use of disclaimers?
How long does it take to drive your lanes Carl, is it possible to create a days laning out of them. Would be nice to have a little west meet.
