can any one shed any light on regulations for laning up in scotland as i believe there are no tresspass laws so does that mean you can go any where with in reason, that is obviously not just turning up and driving all over the place
As I understand it, Scotland land (!!) is owned by individual landowners and not the council - therefore, you need the landowners permission to drive accross their land. That is my understanding.. A quick Google, brought up the following http://www.scotways.com/ http://www.snh.org.uk/strategy/access/sr-cod14.asp Lawrence
I'd love to see more happen in the south but not that far south.. Most of the time I can't afford to leave Hampshire let alone drive another couple of counties south..
In the next thread up from this I offered my help either as a southern co-ord assistant or as a co-ordinator just for Hampshire, but no one bothered to reply to that post... no PM either, so I haven't bothered saying anything since. Instead I've just been arranging my Hampshire days anyway... As I see it, this thread hasn't moved since October... And nothing has been arranged in the south since then.......... (apart from my laning days) Si www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
i do understand your veiws Si
and as there isn't the oportunaties all through the southern area as there is in some of the other areas. Also there arn't that many members down here to get anything going to start with by all means organise your own laning days and events as you're not too far into the southern area. unfortuatly there are a lot of members who will feel left out of the events side of the group ....simply because of the distances and costs of getting to the meets etc etc. this is the primary reason why nothing much has happend all the way down here i have some good lanes down here ...................but it's just tooooooooo far to expect people travel to. i could easily do one days laning with the lanes i have found but you have the time to drive to here ......then the laning ........then all the way back again having said that .......if any of you do fancy coming all the way down here please PM me and i'll try to work sommat out
Hi Carl
Cant vote as im not local to you! But, If you fancy sorting out a weekend event, then i will happily travel down your way! Even though im only 15 miles north of London you will find me at events/trips all over the country, wales being a favorite of mine! Just give me chance to get the tank back on the road! cheers Mark
I might have to arrange to come down for a few days as it starts to get warmer.. (I'm not a cold lover)..
By the way, have you noticed how many hits the Hampshire thread has received recently? Bout' 30 - 40 a day, hehehe, I think it's interesting.. but no one posts on it strangely enough. I just got my new video camera (same as the one Rick was using on the last trip), so I'll be able to get a lot more footage next time.. My footage was from an XDA II mobile phone, but it seems almost completely dead now. certainly isn't working for Tomtom anymore Where exactly are you so I can work out how much it'll cost me to come down for a short trip mate? Currently thinking some time around the 20th Jan is the next good time for a Hampshire lanes day, but I have to wait until my shifts are sorted, I'm moving to another area of Hampshire to work around that date and I'm waiting for the new shifts to be posted up for me. Anyways.... perhaps we need to work together and get a few more southern members.. not fair that the northerners get all the fun mate. Im not a million miles from Hampshire, here in Kent.
I would be well up for a bit of laning in Hampshire once the Fronty is fixed. Although I am a laning virgin. I do agree the most of the events seem to be up in the rainy North (more mud you see ) Between us three - me, Rangakoo and Muddy Carl, we cover the hole of the south - South West, Central and East. Interesting that. If you dont mind me tagging along I should have old Fronty fixed early Jan. Sam 1997(P) 2.0 Sport S SWB - Running great but dented in a freak trailer incident

So wheres north london?
I have been aranging trips down here for a few years now! Am i not in the south east? most people tell me im a northerner even though i come from the midlands. I have done most of the essex lanes and a lot of the oxfordshire lanes. i posted these trips in the main forum but not many people frrom down south seemed to be up for it? maybe my reputation of trying to find the most challenging lanes going might put people off cheers Mark
Mark
i have six or seven lanes of those two are drivable by car!!!!!!! one that could be interesting........................ but not by your standards so i wouldn't want to embarass myself by saying that they are all fanastic ..cos they arn't. besides it's certainly not worth the 50-70 quid-a-night B&B...even in a pub
whos talking about spending that sort of money?
When muddy-fronteras go laning, we will go for 2,3 or 4 deays at a time, and we never stay in in b&b's (with the exception of the first annual meeting when my wife was with me). The majority of us will camp rough allmost anywhere (and we have) http://www.muddy-fronteras.co.uk/wales%20photos.htm follow the link, we camp in any weather anywhere! Cheers Mark

Hi,
I'm new to the forum, just got my first frontera (98 sport 2.0) that I picked up cheap as a part ex deal. I live Padstow, not too far from Newtron Abbotts & would be interested in some local laning as an easy starting point, just to see how it performs.
