You might (or might not ) know that I did my first competative event last year and thouroughly enjoyed myself in the process. Have a read through this thread for more details. A number of people have expressed the urge to have a go at something similar, and having spoken with Shropshire Off Road Club (SORC) we can most likely make it happen. Effectively, SORC will put on an event and "invite" FOG members to participate. SORC are recognised by the Motor Sports Association (MSA - the UK's governing body for motorsport, reporting to the FIA) and are therefore able to offer event insurance). There will be some costs involved. A days competition will most likely be £20 to enter, and if are not a member of another MSA club, then you can join SORC which is, I believe, £25 a year. Now, that might sound a little expencive, but if we can get enough FOG members to take part, they should be able to do some deal on a day's membership included in the entry fee. I would imagine it would be best if they put on a TYRO event (just like the one I did, if you followed the link earlier) which should allow even standard Fronteras to have a jolly good day out and offer some close competition - tyre choise might be the only decision you'll need to make. Location would probably be near to Shrewsbury. If there is enought firm interest, perhaps we could sort a date out for later in the year. I would be happy to liase with SORC and get this up and running. Please register your interest in the poll and ask those question I know you will want to ask below Lawrence

Correct, battery kill switch and plumbed in fire extinguisher is not required for a RTV/TYRO class vehicle, although there is a requirement for a hand held fire extinguisher Regulations, as taken from the SORC website: Classes 1, 2 and 3.
- Tax Discs- All vehicles must show an in date tax disc
- Body- Bulkhead, cockpit, Crew compartment should be fitted with metal body, that includes a crew compartment effectively isolated from the engine, battery, gearbox, transmission, shafts, brakes, road wheels, fuel tank, water tanks and radiators, with a metal bulkhead. It must be fitted with doors that close securely or be permanently shut.
- Roll Cages- Vehicle must have a standard metal roof fitted with windscreen and door tops or a roll over bar. Roll cage hoops and stays must be fitted and fastened to the chassis.
- Seats- Seats must have backs fitted and be fastened in securely. Seat Belts must be fitted and warn at all times, minimum of a lap strap.
- Wheels and tyres- Vehicle must be fitted with four wheels and tyres that are road legal and not re-cut, studded or fitted with chains. Wheels must be fitted with the correct number of studs and nuts. Spare wheels must be securely strapped, if carried. Tyres should be covered by suitable mud guards that cover around an arc of 120 degrees of all road wheels. Minimum tyre pressure of 22 psi.
- Fuel tanks- Fuel tanks must be fitted outside seating compartment. No fuel pipes should enter the passenger compartment. Tanks and caps must not leak. Tanks may be moved to the rear of the vehicle, but a bulkhead must be fitted around them. Filler caps must not protrude beyond the body of the vehicle, and any vents must be 10” away from the seating compartment. LPG is allowed. No fuel to be carried in cans inside a competing vehicle.
- Battery- Battery must be securely fastened, with both terminals covered. It is advised that a battery cut off switch, or and isolator switch be fitted, and in a clearly marked position.
- Brakes- Brakes must work effectively on all wheels. All brake pipes must be securely fastened to chassis and axles. Hand brakes must work effectively. No fiddle brakes allowed.
- Steering- Vehicles must be fitted with a full circumference steering wheel. All components must be in good order.
- Engines- A throttle return spring must be fitted to the throttle butterfly, to shut off the throttle in the event of linkage failure. Engines must be started and stopped from inside the vehicle.
- Exhaust- Must silence the engine adequately, and must not enter the cab area, and must be routed away from the fuel lines.
- Cooling system- Cooling system must be fitted outside the seating compartment. Any water pipes passing through the cab should be of metal, or encased in metal or metal braided.
- Towing points- Must be fitted at the front and rear, and securely fastened to the chassis or bumper, which is secured to the chassis. The tow point must accept a rope loop securely, without the use of a shackle. There must be no sharp edges, and a substantial rope, looped at both ends, must be carried in all vehicles, at all times. A one inch diameter nylon rope is recommended. Wire rope and chains are not to be used.
- Bumpers- A front bumber of substance (metal) must be fitted between chassis rails.
- Axles- No axle diff lockers are to used.
- Fire extinguishers- 1.5kg (minimum size) AFFF extinguishers must be carried.
The only concern I can see from the above is regarding recovery points, I will mention it to the organisers when I contact them, like wise the fire extinguisher requirment, and see if we can get a waiver for the recovery point and pehaps share fire extinguishers if required. Oh, and for interest: Frontera Sport is Class 2 Frontera Estate is Class 3 Lawrence

While talking to them you could ask if a strop could replace the rope,as that is what most peopl carry now & would fit through a smaller towing eye

Yes there is but not immediately behind & could not be use for recovery purposes, the only practical way on a B is shackles at he front of the chassis rails where the nudge bar is fixed. I know it`s semantics but it depends how rigidly they apply the rules,I would hate for Bobbin`s to drive near the width of the country to be told he was ineligible,if the powers that be want a car to look at I can take mine to their scrutineers any evening
