Re: Fancy competing in a TrialPop me down if there is'nt too much arsing about with rules and regulations.
Re: Fancy competing in a TrialTo be honest, I don't expect there to be any problem in any of our Fronteras being eligable.
My vehicle was "scrutineered" before both of the events I competed in with SORC, and it mainly involved looking for play in the steering. Lawrence Last edited by Trugga on Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:57 am, edited 1 time in total.

Good point Phil I must get a different sort of button soon
Re: Fancy competing in a TrialI would be up for this, but I think with the long list of jobs I've got on the truck at the moment, I can't see myself getting all the truck up to regulation level before the end of the summer.
So, with that in mind, I am willing to attend the event, and jump in with anyone else should they require a 'Winch Bitch' or 'I can't be arsed getting out the truck and getting muddy'! Also to cheer on from the side lines, and have the spanners ready, just in case. For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable but in the end is right I hope you have the time of your life Green Day - Good Riddence (Time of your life)
Re: Fancy competing in a TrialJust to reiterate, that modifications to our Fronteras should be nothing more than recovery points and a fire extinguisher (we won't be needing winches on a Trial)
I am yet to contact the organisers to discus recovery points and extinguishers, but I would expect them to accept them as they are as standard. Front passengers should be permitted but obviously, belts must be worn. Lawrence Last edited by Trugga on Sat Apr 17, 2010 6:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Fancy competing in a TrialHi
I ticked ''Oh yes, I definately want to have a go at this'' Please I maybe changing my Mind thou depends how bad I do at Bala Cheers Roo
Re: Fancy competing in a TrialTook a drive over to Ironbridge today to watch a SORC Punch Challenge and to chat to the organisers about this FOG Trial.
A TYRO is for beginners with standard vehicles so, there will be no need to modify your Fronteras at all. The regulations posted earlier in this thread is for RTV (Road Taxed Vehicle) trial vehicles and are not enforced for TYRO's That said, they would like to see a tow point front and rear - standard Fronteras should have them and a tow bar at the rear will be ok. As for the hook v Loop discussion, just fasten your tow rope to your towing eye with a shackle and store the loose end of the tow rope safely in the vehicle. The idea is to be able to quickly attach a tow rope not neccesarrily the method of fixing it. Passengers in the vehicles would be allowed as long as they are in proper seats and suitably belted. SORC are running a TYRO in August, with camping available on site. The Committee will look into this with a view to inviting FOG to take part. I explained that members would not be able to stump up £25 membership and a £20 entry fee which they understood, and will have a think and come up with a join and compete special package for us. I am waiting a phone call/email from their Competition Secretary and when I have more details I'll let you all know. Lawrence

Re: Fancy competing in a Trial Oh I don't have any recovery points at the front of mine, so does that mean I wont be able to enter now?
And as for needing a fire extinguisher , is there a chance of our fronty's going on fire then ?? Cheers Roo
Re: Fancy competing in a TrialI've recieved a positive email from SORC and will post in full this eveing.
Basically, they have agreed a special deal for FOG members and have invited us to an event (that includes TYRO, RTV & CCV). More later. Lawrence
