Re: helping a friendwell went up to fetch my mates car off the lane today.the lane was still quiet bad and slippy, but when we finally got to the car it had been wrecked . all the windows had been put through, rad, alternator, battery, pil cooler plus lots of other bits had gone. all the tyres had had there valves taken outand the lights had gone. the car is a right off.
we managed to blow all the tyres up, and just put valve caps on and then i towed it off the lane. my mate should be on his way back up now with a trailer to collect it. i know perhaps he did wrong and shouldnt have gone when the weather was bad or with not alot of equipment, but it made me realy angry and sad to think someone could do this to someone. i'm sure bernie will put pics on shortly.
Re: helping a friendjust shows how mindless some peole are,we in our group are quite lucky but if you have to leave something over night i dont know how but it sends out scroat alarms whitch the can find your car even when it's off the beaten path, hope it's not that bad but from what your saying these scroates have made a good job of stripping bits off (unprintable words here).

Re: helping a friendwhat i cant understand is why take the valves out? if it was vandals, surely they would have slashed the tyres? or even took the wheels and tyres? its as though they new it would have to be removed.
Re: helping a friendSh*t thats bad news mate...
The really gutting thing is was probably done by one or others of our own.... who else would be there, carrying tools in the vehicle particularly a valve tool which probably isnt in most peoples tool kits, unless they are into airing tyres down, so probably an offroader like you and I...a4seholes! Even if someone had the ache that it was blocking the road...and maybe then bust some bits on their car getting past, and decided that they would recoup their costs by liberated some bits off the stranded car to sell (as wrong as it is), why then smash the windows etc...pointless... There are some people that participate in our hobby that I seriously dislike...and am ashamed to share this passtime with... On small plus(ish) point... Although technically a right off....a donor Mot failure disco would provide all the bits needed to get it going again for a couple of hundred quid... Re: helping a friendthink he just given up mate. makes you wonder what sort of people would do this thought we were all in it for a bit of fun. obviously some ar'nt.
Re: helping a friend
Your not wrong mate...the same kind of low-lifes that threaten a 85yr old with a metal bar when they are caught trespassing in his woods, and hence another offroad site we cant use!...there is certainly a scum factor in our hobby... Re: helping a friend
That's *uckin* disgraceful. I don't understand why people who "enjoy" laning etc, would do that to a fellow 4x4er. Even if it's from a different group/club or a manufacturer that you think/know is inferior, you would hope that they would make sure that your motor is secure. This kind of thing is the kind of action that is arming the mean greenies with ammo to get us all chucked out of the countryside. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes
