I am getting BT Infinity next week ,has any one had it installed ? do I need a working cd/dvd drive on my pc to any install software required ? coz both of mine are buggered at the mo .. Thanks for looking..

Shouldn't do bud... it's only broadband after all.
BT should install it for you (flick some switches at the exchange and roadside cabinet, do what needs doing with your wiring), then give you a nice shiny new modem/router; all you need to do is feed the settings for the Wi-fi into your computer, and Bob's the relative of your choice. If you have a desktop that connects via a network cable you stick one end in the router, one in your PC, and that's that.

Even if they do include some sort of disc with stuff on that you want to take advantage of, given the number of laptops and things out there with no optical drives at all, it should all be available online too.

most isps provide a 'quick install' cd with their kit but its not needed and usually a way for them to put their branding on your browser etc.

I'm a BT engineer and install fibre broadband (infinity, sky fibre etc) and it is as Jim says. There is no cd rom to install but when you go online for the 1st time you are given the option to download a help tool for diagnosing any problems if they should pop up ..... :wink:

Been a BT test customer for their 200Mb/s service now for 5 months. It's amazing how slow some website servers are :lol:
