Any bloggers who know how to embed pictures?

Any bloggers who know how to embed pictures?

Postby Retro Pedro on Fri Aug 10, 2012 2:15 pm

Blogger with 'L' plates on
I'm currently running a 'blog' telling the story of the Commer Karrier restoration.
When I first loaded up last March, I was able to add pictures so that they were embedded rather than leaving the link back to my photobucket account. For the life of me I can't remember the exact procedure that I did to achieve this.
Last night, after a bit of trial and error, I was able to log back onto my blog and edit to enable me to add the next story so far. I had previously uploaded my new pictures to photobucket and copied the [IMG]http: .jpg link (the bottom panel in photobucket links) - which is what I do when posting pictures on FOG. Problem is it leaves the link rather than converts to the picture, so I guess it's not embedding the pictures into the blog.
Anybody got any know how and advice to assist me in embedding the pictures as required.
Cheers for any incoming info.

Dunno mate...I would have thought that should work...

Might be worth trying resizing one of you pics in PB smaller than you would have on ere, as maybe there is an image size restriction thing going on, and if the image is too big it just shows a link...

I am guessing mind...I always though a blog was what you called a pregnant frog...

Pete, I think it's just that you've copied the wrong code from the various options PhotoBucket gives you, that's all..

FOG requires you to use the BBCode link, so the square " tagged link. Your blog I suspect requires the HTML version, the one that starts <a href="http://.....

What's the address for the blog, I can have a quick look at it?

Ahhhright, if it's Blogger, then adding pictures is slightly different then posting them on here...
Nothing particularly difficult, mind, just different.

Personally, I'd suggest making a new entry each time you update things, rather than reopening and modifying the first one. Entirely up to you of course, but that way the latest stuff is at the top of the page, instantly visible without having to scroll down to find where you'd got to last time, and it makes the blog look active rather than idle. That's just my opinion, however.

Anyhow, posting pictures, when you copy the picture info from PhotoBucket, rather than copying what's in the box labelled IMG code, use the Direct link instead. To insert it into your blog, have a look along the top of the test box at the formatting tools, just under where you have the Publish/Save buttons. Just to the right of where it says "Link" is a tiny little picture. Click on this and it will let you put in a picture wherever the cursor is at that point. Just paste in the direct link to the picture that you copied from PhotoBucket.
Here's Google's own instructions http://support.google.com/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=41641

I'm happy to help more if you'd like, just PM with anything sensitive.

Cheers Jim - I'll have a go at it then come back to you if I'm struggling.

Understand what you're saying about putting new stuff on the top, but what would be ideal if I could make it look like a book rather than a diary. Would be great if I could make new entry's look like chapters that are in turn linked to an index page at the front.

This blogging about is doing my head more that trying to get 53 year old rusted nuts and bolts off the old girl.

Hey, you're doing better'n my aunt, who seems to be able to make technology explode with nothing more than an extravagant gesture

Anyhow, just shout if I can help. I reckon what you want can probably be done with the aid of a decent template and a little effort, I'd need to find out a bit more about how blogspot works first though.

Cracked it Jimbo - What I did was open the blog, go into 'edit' the blog and leave it running.
Then opened photobucket, went to the image required, viewed it in full size, right clicked the mouse on the image which in turn gave a listed of what I could do. Clicked on the 'copy image' tab.
Then went back into the edit mode blog. Positioned the cursor on the insert position required, done control V (copy/paste) and happy days, embedded picture appears.
Carried on doing this until all required pictures were placed, the clicked the 'update' tab and job done.
