Hiya,
I'm looking at somehow installing an old laptop I have into the truck and was wondering if I could use sat nav on it if I get one of these usb thingys. Has anyone ever tried this with any success??

With memory map, and some old MS route finder software, although in an artic, not a Fronty. The gps receivers can be had cheaply on eBay, then you just need a mount for the lappy in the car. Jim...

Re: USB GPS Dongle thingy'sI've bought a cheap USB connecting GPS dongle on ebay which works perfectly OK. I also bought a USB extension lead so that I can position the GPS dongle either hanging from the interior mirror or one the dashboard (helps it receive the GPS signal). If my memory serves me correct, it was only a matter of installing the GPS dongle software and The Memory Map does the rest. At the time, believe the whole cost in the region of £20.
Re: USB GPS Dongle thingy'sI agree with buying an extension lead. Definitely helps improve signal. I went one step further and got a magnetic receiver which I stick on the roof.
