i picked this laptop up cheap because it would not boot up (easy fix)
but anyone got any idea what's going on with the screen its not cracked as i can see i have moved the taskbar to the side so i can still use it

Re: laptop screenLooks to me like it's in 4:3 mode rather than widescreen.
Have a look under control panel>display for settings check the resolution hasn't been changed to a customer setting too Traffic lights in London are just rough guidelines

Re: laptop screenH-sync looks to be gone. Do you have a monitor ou can plug in to check the graphics card?

or if u had it open and card out testing did u make sure the scroll pad ribbon was not pulled out - could always check on device manager n yeah i agree as above that lcd screen looks a bit burnt out around the edges but still shudnt stop a mouse pointer
Re: laptop screenTry changing the screen resolution to see if it goes away. If not, try downloading a Live Linux CD (like Ubuntu) and boot off the CD to see if it's a driver issue.
