Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99As my free Mcaffee trial is running out I just bought Norton Internet Security 2011,for 3 computers, with 12 months subscription for £10.99 from the Norton site.
I know some "know all" will come along and decry Norton as not being as good as whatever they happen to be using on their machine, or tell you need to get so and so's free AV prog as its feckin brilliant, however, just read the reviews ,this at only £10.99 is an absolute bargain. How do you get it ? Go to the Norton site : http://antivirus.norton.com/norton/ps/3 ... 0000060218 Click on 1 Year subscription, when the box opens delete the option for Download insurance, then enter this code in the coupon code box: AE20NIS then click apply and pay on line. Just follow the instructions from there, I got it installed and operational within minutes G. I'm thinking Norton have made a cock up on this Last edited by Postfinder on Sun Feb 27, 2011 2:42 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99Trying not to be a know it all, but Norton and Mcafee are a bloody nightmare, i have been in IT for over ten years so a lot of my mates come to me to help them buy PC's, the antivirus they stick on "for free" is usually one of the above, gets taken off and replaced with AVG, I'm currently testing Microsoft Security Essentials on two of our home PC's and it seems to be fine.
Cant fault AVG really, Its kept most of the PC's a deal with virus free and its usually operator error that allows Malware instalation in my experience. Norton and Macafee cause to much of a performance hit in my experience (especially on laptops) and i cant see what you get extra thats worth paying for over AVG or MSE. Its the wifes until it breaks down.
Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99Feck me, AND within seconds one appears
Never had a problem on my laptop with Norton 2010, and McCafee is sweet, no performance issues what so ever. Anyway, this isn't a software preference thread, just trying to pass on a good deal. if you want to discuss the merits of AV progs start a new thread please. G. Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99I think the biggest issue folks had with Norton, or McAfee was the vast amount of system resources they used to hog, and the nightmare involved in trying to remove them successfully from your system if you decided not to renew, go elsewhere, etc.
If that's been fixed (or just less relevant now with more powerful PC's) and it works for you, you like it, etc... Then go for it. As you say, £10.99 for 3 computers isn't a bad deal at all and at least with something like Norton you know you'll get regular updates, etc. Plus, anything is better than nothing. As an aside though, and I'm not going to get involved in a one vs. another war... If you want an AV program that isn't one of the free ones, it may be worth having a look at your online banking service, if you use it. Barclays have an arrangement with Kaspersky for all their online banking customers. I get a yearly renewed, 3 computer license for their full software so both my laptop & desktop are sorted. Worth a look to see if yours does anything similar. Jim...

Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99
Yes with Barclays as well, looked into the Kaspersky offer, but was not that impressed with it when I used it a couple of years ago, but its getting good reviews for the 2011 release. G
Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99Graeme sometimes we have to try and pre-empt what will happen in a thread, we dont always get it correct but this was aimed at keeping your thread on track to your specifications
Anyway, I have read Norton is getting its act together regarding the system hogging issues it was renowned for, and for that price and especially for those that want complete protection but are not that pc savvy its a bloody good bargain, nice find Ste

Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99Right, given that this thread was started by Postfinder to make people aware of a deal, and not to start a discussion of the merits of various AV programs...

Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99Well in my opinion if you want a good AV scanner you should get...... just kidding
Sounds like a good deal, used to work for them (albeit in the corporate products) and they kind of lost their way after the Veritas merger, from what I hear they're getting back on track and their virus detection rates are now back with the pack.
Re: Norton Internet Security 2011 for £10.99Just as a tail note to this thread, visit this site and read the comments that other people have made about this product, it makes for some entertaining but informative reading.
