password problem


password problem

trying to open a lenovo laptop but when you enter the password you get the message " the user profile service failed the logon - user profile cannot be loaded"
& so i cant get on it :evil:
WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

Shut the pooter down.
Restart the machine and hit F8 while it's booting up and select advance boot options, then Safe Mode. (You could log on as admin, but i'll assume for this that isn't available to you.
Click on 'what is system restore' and use System restore to roll back your machine.

You don't mention what operating system you have so I've assumed Vista or 7

yeah sorry box its vista, restore was the next option which is now in process :wink:

just to add that all the gubbings that appears on the computer page is only used when the owner of the lappy is on his works network :?

Which probably means things have been shuffled around on the works network then. Assuming of course that your mate has had reason to access (and hence save) those network locations.
Windows will remember network locations, and attempt to reconnect them automatically. If the targets are no longer where they're expected to be, you get messages like that. Probably best if your mate has a word with the company IT department.

they all connect when hes on the works network jim it was only when i was sorting out the password problem i noticed them and thought that their appearance was a further problem but its all up and running ok now :wink:
