Damn cursor

Postby Rifleman on Sat Feb 05, 2011 11:55 pm

Heres one for the pc techy guys.
My laptop is only about a year old and i'm finding that sometimes the cursor wont move or go where i want it to.
Sometimes it jumps from one side of the page to the other when i try to move it just a wee bit.
It is a Sony vaio.
Any ideas?
Regards, Keith.

Go to:

Start
Settings
Control Panel
System
Hardware
Device Manager
Mice and Other Pointing Devices (this may vary depending on configuration)

Now, Your mouse or touchpad should have an entry here (Synaptics Touchpad for example).

Double click the entry for your mouse and see if there is a 'polling interval' or similar checkbox. For the life of me I cant remember the exact title but it can cause mouse jumping, particularly on laptop touchpads. If you post back with findings Il tell you if the problem lies there or elsewhere.

By the way, does it happen f an external mouse is plugged in?
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Those touch pads need to be treated like a clitoris, with a very gentle touch. On the plus side they are easier to find than the other type.

Tried it with the mouse and it works ok. So seems to be pointing towards the pad mate.
