Word of Warning!

Word of Warning!

Postby RatCav on Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:42 am

I woke up today and logged on to check my email, to notice I had two pm's waiting for me for what I thought was this forum. Bleary eyed I clicked on the link and it opened my inbox and there they were. Fortunatly I noticed the URL and it said fronteratech.com not fronteraowners.co.uk.

Killed my browser and ran a virus check and manually logged onto the forum and went to my inbox. They weren't there. I dunno if it was my computer (even though it found nothing) or wether someone is phishing (copying with a dodgy one so it can steal all your details), but I thought I should highlight it anyway. Easiest way to tell it seems is if the email you recieve says www.fronteratech.blah then delete the emails and go to the forum directly and check your inbox that way. Do not click the link provided

Cheers

Nah ... it was identical to this one ... even down to the FOG symbol and layout. Either way I have nuked all the emails and fortunatly it seems I have avoided any unwanted and malicious software.

As some have suggested it might be a random thing but just wanted to highlight it just in case it happens to someone else who might not get ht worse.

That is an arm of frontera owners . org & their logo is virtually identical due to it being designed on here, there is some historical "bad blood" on the subject, also Steve1 asking for £10 per member for "site upkeep" is not a suprise to hear

Just been for a sniff round that site..
http://www.fronteratech.co.uk/ looks a LOT like this site.

Dont seem to like us much? As we all have a common interest - why the animosity?
Log in as a guest.. and go to... Board index ‹ Merchandise ‹ Stickers, Key rings < stickers

pathetic! have a read.. some of the technical bits seem to have been 'borrowed' as well...

The owner of that site was an admin on here a few years ago, he tried to hijack the site and brought it down for a few days and started his own site up, he was not happy with FOG because we would not lower ourselves to his money making schemes and scams, he was as you can imagine subsequently banned by the then owner Pete.

And I still have all the proof here

I would not be surprised if he is snooping around here in disguise collecting email addresses.

If you havent noticed I dont like him much

We are (FOG) a free resource and as long as the Admin and Mod team here are in charge it always will be free and we would not dream of sending out begging letters to the member who make us what we are with their own input..
