Green
Laning - The First Year
It all started
last March when I purchased a copy of Total off Road
magazine, flicking through it, I came across a Green
lane road book for East Hertfordshire, thinking I can do
that. So I sent a post to the group asking if any one
else was mad enough for a journey into the ‘unknown’,
there were 3 replies. With a bit of hurried organisation
we met at The Sibthorpe Arms, Welham Green for FOG’s
first ever GLD. I had wanted to get into more
greenlaning rather than off-roading (less time on car
cleaning) for some time. Having done a bit of off-roading
in a sandpit (Bures) and collected an assortment of
recovery equipment and how to use it if the situation
arose. The day went well, it was decided that we would
all like to do it again. And we did. This year we have
completed 6 one-day trips and a weekend in Wiltshire.
The Green Laning section of the group is looking
healthy, we have Pete, our Northern Area Co-ordinator
and me in the South, so what is happening in 2004, you
will just have to read your messages from Pete or
myself. It would be great to see some new faces on the
GLD’s, because it really is a great family fun day out,
and what a sight half a dozen Fronty’s in convoy.
Hopefully see you out on the lanes and happy laning.
