Workday at the Woods Sunday 12th September and REVIEW!!!!Hi foggers
Please be advised that on Sunday 12th September 2010 we will doing a Workday at the site... We will meet at 9am at Notcutts garden centre just off j7 m20 (head towards maidstone from j7 and its immediately on your left...) (the meet point may be changed to the woods, if everyone attending has been before and knows where they are going...I will advise) Please bring with you any tools that you have that may be useful for clearing trees, digging and lunch/drinks as nowhere very near to get grub when you have worked up an appetite. Dont worry if you cant bring your fronty, we find somewhere to park the lesser cars if not 4x4's so you can still join in if you want to. Probably not a good idea to bring dogs to the work days, I am just concerned about them running around with chainsaws going and 4x4's moving around, and children must be kept on a tight leash and near parents at all times as we dont want any accidents. Workdays will not be capped at the moment as loads to do, and we will be grafting as a team to get work done...this will involve some delegation of tasks within the team to ensure we are both productive and safe... Use of chainsaws will be restricted to logging or pruning areas as instructed...I dont want to risk accidents with inexperienced members felling trees and anything we cut has to be considered so as to retain the character of the woods and to represent best productivity. This is gonna be hard graft, I can be a bit of a slave driver , and for maximum productivity please only add your name if you are available for the full day... Please note this is NOT a playday, and although some 4x4 driving/working will probably be involved during the day, we are there to work to get the site ready for the next meet... Anyone "outworked" by Sally will be on toilet emptying duty at the next weekender!!!! Your safety is paramount, I must insist that anyone attending ensures that they stay a safe distance from any felling or chainsaw operations or moving vehicles... Falling debris can be unpredictable in its direction or distance of fall, so please be very careful... Please add your name to the list if you are coming to help with this, and thanks for your support guys...we are really getting there with the site now!!! See you soon Gregster Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: Workday at the Woods Sunday 12th September...Cheers Ross and Kel...no worries, you aint gonna be able to make em all.....will save some special tasks for you for next time...
Got a fair bit to do in preparation for the weekender still, had a few trees come down in the recent high winds, nothing huge thankfully! These will need clearing...we are gonna need all the signs removing from the trees, so they can be edited and refitted along with a load of new ones... Spent several hours up there today with Sally and Roma, sketching everything out so I can do a new up to date map of the site ready for the weekender with stuff named and graded (kinda) for newbies...Should help keep foggers on the bits they are supposed to be on and off the bits they aint! Was a proper mission...we have made a helluva lotta tracks in the woods...and i gotta say a hole (yes HOLE) load of new stuff... Then need to try and break in some of the new bits so are more driveable, and compact tracks through the freshly mounded earth being careful not to churn it out the way hence undoing the digger work... Gotta say the place is looking great and some of the new stuff is gonna be great fun to drive (or get towed out of!!!)... Re: Workday at the Woods Sunday 12th September...Wotcha Foggers....
Another successful workday done and the woods are one step nearer to be being ready for the weekender in a fortnight! Many thanks to Paul Mapracing Pete Retropedro Paul Badboy Matt and Sally... Today we had a good tidy up, and broke in many of the freshly dug obstacles making them drivaeable for everyone else at the weekender...much care has to be taken to not displace too much freshly mounded earth, the emphasis being on compacting it instead...Holes needed edges breaking off and trees pruning to save your bodywork! Paul Map racing, calming the horse shoe... Paul Mapracing a bit stuck in the hill climb with the chalky root hole...with its new hole....Sadly Paul bust a drive shaft giving it some beans trying to get out of the hole...welded diffs are great for getting places but are hard on shafts Badboy taming the new holes by the final climb... Li'll white leafer taming the axle twister on the under the tree climb...in 3wd Badboy taming the new bits in the top of the woods... Badboys "moment" in the same bit... L'ill white leafer running down the "Raving Mad" axle twister climb...3wd sucks! Badboys ARB drop link... Badboys 2.8 spat a rear spring and spacer... Well done everyone....blinding effort...soz about the pickie quality on the vids...where shot on phones and one was switched to macro Cant wait till the weekender...will be so much fun! Re: Workday at the Woods Sunday 12th September...well done chaps!
looks like carnage trying to run the new tracks through yet another driveshaft for paul and really impressed with badboys arb - did it damage the shock?? ran out of time on sunday, sorry didnt make it but maybe just as well seeing as how easily greg "encourages" everyone to try the new runs see ya all soon and a very belated happy birthday to pete - didnt see this before
Re: Workday at the Woods Sunday 12th September...Given I couldn't get out of the car to see the angle it was at (I was pinned in by the seat belt) I'm shocked. It must have been close to tipping point at one stage. It certainly worried me. Pity Sally couldn't capture the look on my face with the camera, but believe it or not the excellent 2.8 made it out undamaged Paul (mapracing) is that close enough to the ground with the wing mirror????? In all seriousness, what some of these videos show, is an extreme obstacle on the site having never been driven before. Very loose top soil causing very little traction resulting in extreme stuckness. Hopefully once it becomes driven and the earth compacted stucks like this won't happen to you, but there's still plenty still un-driven for the weekender ready to catch a few people out!!!!!
Shock was fine. After the ARB link broke the shock kept dislocating. Was only a matter of time before it actually fell out. Funny thing was, I fitted new rear pads on Saturday and noticed the ARB link was twisted 360deg. Looked like someone had modified it previously as there is no way it was naturally twisted. Was speaking to Pete about it, then an hour later it snapped Glad it went on a work day rather than at the weekender. Just need to check the other side and order a replacement ready for the weekender now Traffic lights in London are just rough guidelines
Re: Workday at the Woods Sunday 12th September...KEWL!
On a side note thats a very peculiar looking bend in the drop link
